Thoughts On Proverbs 26
Proverbs 26:10
The great GOD that formed all things both rewardeth the fool and the transgressors
7 Characters Stand Out In This Chapter:
1. Fools,
2. People who think they know it all( conceited people),
3. Gossips,
4. Busy bodies, 5. Lazy people,
6. Pretenders, (impostors/ hypocrites)
7. Malicious liars.
Solomon did not mince words to denounce the characters of such people. These characters are definitely not of GOD.
Our main verse says it all, no matter how ” smart” these group of people think they are, the ¹LORD will surely reward them accordingly.
It is wise for us to look through these characters and if in any way we are guilty of any of them, my prayer is for GOD to help us leverage on the saving grace of our LORD JESUS and purge us from such characters and replace them with HIS own character. That is why we are saved.
Thoughts On Proverbs Chapter 27
1. We are admonished that we should not boast of tomorrow because we don’t know what may happen tomorrow.
God knows about tomorrow. So it is better to say, ” By the grace of God, I will do this and that tomorrow.” Do not boast of your own strength, wisdom or power. Hence, as Proverbs 3:6 says, “In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.”
2. It is good to avoid people who are envious of you because they are dangerous! Envy is worst than wrath which is cruel and anger is outrageous! You know that the Bible says that anger is found in the bosom of a fool.
3. “The full soul loathed a honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter herb is sweet.” The lesson here is that it is not good to give even the best food or thing to someone who does not need it. The person you are giving to is full of what you are giving him or her. They have more than enough. They don’t need it. Give to the hungry soul and they will be forever grateful because they are in need of what you have. The Bible says that he that is aways giving to the rich will soon become poor.
4. We should not forget our own friend and our father and mother’s friend. We should be close to our family members at all times. We should not go to them or visit them only when we are in need or in trouble. That means we only remember they exist when we need their help.
5. It is good to have a foresight. Look at the outcome of something in the future before you take a decision. Look at things critically before you act on it. Look before you leap! ” A prudent man foreseeth the evil and hideth himself, but the simple pass on and are punished.”Verse12.
6. “Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.” This means that one is encouraged and happy when working with a person of like mind. Verse17.
7. If you have a lucrative business, you will prosper. It is like keeping a fig tree. You know a fig tree is fruitful all round the year. Likewise if one serves his master who is honourable he also will be honoured because of his association with the noble.
8. When one has a good business, such a one will be able to provide for himself, his household and the people working for him.
Prayer: Father, direct us to do what you want us to do so that we may prosper and live the abundant life that You promised us in Jesus’ Name! Amen!
