Today, we study the Book of Proverbs Chapter 20, where we are reminded that a man’s steps are better directed by the Lord.

“A man’s steps are of the Lord; How then can a man understand his own way?”
REFLECTION
“LORD, PLEASE ESTABLISH OUR GOINGS”
Prophet Jeremiah affirmed that “the way of a man is not in himself; it is not in who walks to direct his own steps”
(Jeremiah 10:23)
Yet, mere mortals are expected to make decisions daily with eternal consequences!
Surely, only the Lord can direct our steps.
For a believer, the compass for life should be the Word of God.
Indeed, the Bible is a useful guide in aligning with the WILL of God.
The challenge for the believer in this dispensation is finding the COUNSEL of God for “He works All Things after the COUNSEL of His WILL”
(Ephesians 1:11)
The Bible admonishes us to “trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths” (Prov. 3:5-6)
IS IT POSSIBLE TO ALIGN OUR STEPS WITH THE LORD’ S?
WHAT TO DO?
1. Knowing God intimately
(Philippians 3:10-11)
2. Knowing God’s Word
(Psalms119:105)
3. Renew our minds
(Romans 12:1-2)
4. Obedience to divine instructions
(Prov 10:17)
5. Patience to inherit the promises.
(Hebrews 6:12)
EXTRA ADVANTAGE OF THE BELIEVER
The Believer is at an advantage:
The Lord still communicates with His Church and People through dreams, visions, and revelations.
The following examples support the advantage of divine guidance through dreams:
1. Isaac instructed not to go down to Egypt (Gen.26:2)
2. Joseph instructed to flee to Egypt (Matt. 2: 13-23)
3. Cornelius advised in a vision to send men to Apostle Peter in Joppa
(Acts 10:3-5)
Conclusion
Truly, the Lord is still leading His People 24/7.
What is required of us is to develop the capacity to RECEIVE instructions & the grace to OBEY.
