Thoughts on Joel chapter 3
Joel 3:14 NKJV
Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision 2 Peter 1:19-21 NLT
Because of that experience, we have even greater confidence in the message proclaimed by the prophets.
You must pay close attention to what they wrote, for their words are like a lamp shining in a dark place—until the Day dawns, and Christ the Morning Star shines in your hearts.
Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit,
The final chapter of the Book of Joel reveals the yet to be fulfilled portions of his prophecies. Their time of fulfilment is at the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
God’s word cannot be broken, the Day of the Lord will come at the Battle of Armageddon (valley of Jehoshaphat) when the Lord who judges will judge the nations.
“Will you retaliate against Me?” God virtually challenges the nations to come against Him or His people. He vows to “return your retaliation upon your own head” to those who come against Him or His people.
Though the nations come against God and His Messiah with diverse weapons and the most positive frame of mind, it will be for nothing. They will be plucked like a ripe harvest and crushed in judgment (Psalms 2).
Contrary to our familiar use of the term “valley of decision” in evangelism, to show people that they stand in the valley of decision, and must decide for or against Jesus, Joel’s context tells us the opposite.
Man does indeed stand in the valley of decision, but it is God who does the deciding, not man. It is a valley of judgment – and we should decide for Jesus right now so that we never stand in this valley of decision.
The evils that will see today is incomparable to what lies ahead, according to the Book of Revelation. Believers can not afford to be careless.
We must with determination continue to press in to God in this Pilgrim’s Journey, being assured that for His people, it’s a different ending….the LORD will be a shelter for His people, and the strength of the children of Israel. Amen🙏
