For your obedience is come abroad to all men

Philippians 1:12
But I want you to know, brethren, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel
Acts 28:30- 31

Romans 1:15
So, as much as is in me, I am ready to preach the gospel to you who are in Rome also.
2 Timothy 2:9
“For which I suffer trouble as an evildoer, even to the point of chains; but the word of GOD is not chained”.
We can’t let Romans 16 pass us by without highlighting the crucial message therein.
This was Paul’s closing chapter. It is filled with greetings, commendations, warnings and revealing the very essence of ministry.
MAJOR EMPHASIS OF ROMANS 16
A. Ministry Is Teamwork
Paul named people, called them by their names… because people matter.
B. Women Were Key Ministers Not Just Helpers.-
Phoebe, Priscilla, Mary, Tryphena, Tryphosa, Persis, Junia. Their names are immortalized, not because of their titles/ status, but because of their service
C. Hard Work Is Heaven-Recognised
GOD honours labour more than titles.
D. Ministry Includes All Social Classes
I did a little research on the names Paul called and found out that some of them were high-ranking officials. Erastus was like the accountant general of the State. So the gospel penetrated all social classes – from labourers, to slaves to government officials, rich. Poor, jews, Gentiles, men & women
Rich, poor, Jews, Gentiles, men, women, officials, slaves.
E. Spiritual Maturity Includes Discernment
Able to identify divisive teachings and avoid them to guard the fragile unity of the church
F. The Glory Belongs to GOD Alone
The chapter ends where every ministry should end—glory to GOD, not to Paul.
Areas Of Practical Applications
For Leaders
– Know how to celebrate and genuinely appreciate people.
– know that ministry thrives through teamwork.
For Workers
– Be like Mary (vs 6)— let your labour speak, not your title/status
– Your name may not be famous, but heaven records faithfulness.
For the Church
– Welcome, support, and honour servants of GOD, regardless of gender (like Phoebe).
– Guard unity ruthlessly.
For Personal Growth
– Ask: “Am I a burden-lifter or a burden-maker in GOD’s house?”
TakeAway
– To think that Paul came into Rome as a Prisoner, under house arrest waiting for a sentence, yet from Romans 1 to Romans 16, he kept true to his calling, not allowing his chains to be an excuse. For the two years he was in Rome, his work there achieved a lasting impact even up till now, the book of Romans is a must-read
– If it took Paul just two years to achieve this much, even though he was in chains, what have I been able to achieve for the LORD in 2 years, though not in chains?

Prayer Point
