“…I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.” (1 Samuel 16: 1)
In our Focal Scripture, God told Samuel to go to the house of Jesse. Jesse was David’s father; Jesse was the father of the next King of Israel; Jesse was the man whose offspring would later reign on the throne of Saul. God did not mention David’s name first, but He first mentioned the name of Jesse, David’s father.
One of the meanings of ‘Jesse’, is ‘God is gracious’. So, Jesse downloaded the grace of God, and his son benefited from it; Jesse’s name may not have rung a bell in Israel, but the grace he downloaded was enjoyed by his next generation. It’s easy to celebrate David who later became King, but the man who laid the strategic foundation of grace in that lineage was Jesse.
Friend, God will make you a channel of grace for your generation. You will attract grace that other members of your family will enjoy; you will download grace that will open doors for people around you; you will be a conduit through which other people will receive the supplies of God’s grace in their lives; God’s grace on your life will open doors for your generation.
It’s not enough to enjoy open doors; be the one through whom your generation will enjoy open doors and receive countless blessings; be the one through whom God will find reasons to visit your children, spouse, relatives, colleagues, bosses, etc. You have what it takes to be the bridge that will connect men to their future.
Ask God to make you a carrier of grace. Ask God to make your life full of grace that everyone around you will be a partaker.
Proverbs 13 vs. 22 puts it this way: “A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children…”.
Prayer:
Lord, make me a carrier of grace; my generation will enjoy Your grace through me, in Jesus’ name!.
