1 Chronicles Chapter 18.

This chapter highlights king David’s victory in battles over his adversaries roundabout.

God gave King David victory over Israel’s arch enemy (the Philistines). He fought and defeated the Philistines, subdued them and rescued Gath and her towns out of their hands!

These were the nations that fought against king David:

Philistines, Moab, Zobah, Syria-damascus, Tibhath, Chun, Edom, Ammon and Amalek.

All these nations and cities became king David’s servants. They paid tributes to him and brought him many gifts!

God’s Hand was so mighty upon David that even when two nations Zobah and Syria joined forces together and fought against him, he still defeated them!

He houghed (disabled) nine hundred chariots horses but reserved one hundred of them for his use.

King David was grateful to God by dedicating all the previous things that he got from war(the exploits or the booties ) of war to God. The gold, the silver, the brass, etc., he brought them to the House of God in Jerusalem.

King David’s kingdom was well structured. He created offices and positioned people rightly according to their ability.

Joab and his brother Abishai the two sons of Zeruiah were king David’s valiant men of war among many others!

Joab was over the host.

Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was the recorder.

Zadok the son of Ahitub and Abimelech the son of Abiathar were the priests.

Shavsha was the scribe.

Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites.

The sons of David were chief about the king.

King David chose his officers from his nuclear family, his extended family members, the family of his priests and the family of his close friends.

Other responsibilities were assigned to the people of Israel according to their ability.

The wisdom from King David here is that it is better to work with your own people that you know than working with strangers.

Verse14 says, “So David reigned over all Israel, and executed judgment and justice among all his people.”

God’s covenant was established with David as long as he walked in righteousness and in obedience to God.

Conclusion

GOD SAID TO ME THIS MORNING THAT HIS CHILDREN SHOULD CONTINUE TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT!

That means, if there is anyone who is not doing the right thing, the person should repent and start doing the right thing now before it is too late!

Remember, He is coming to reward everyone according to his/her deeds!
