LUST AS AN ENEMY OF GLORY – PART 2

TEXT πŸ“–πŸ“– Prov. 23:1-3,20-21, 25:28, 2Sam. 11: 2-26, Judg. 14:1-3, 16:1-21

Hallelujah! Today is another opportunity to seek the face of God in fasting and prayer.

We shall be looking at the second part of lust as an enemy of glory, even as we trust God to help us overcome it.

Lust is a strong weapon in the hands of the devil. He uses it to bring down many great destinies. There are many mighty men in the scripture and in our contemporary time that were brought down from their place of glory to shame and destruction because they entertained lust.

Our father in the Lord, once said when the devil wants to destroy a man he looks at what is already inside the man that he can use. Lust is one of such things.

James 1:15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

Here the scripture is saying lust can become pregnant; and those who entertain it will give birth to a baby called sin. The baby (sin) when it is grown up kills or destroys the same parent that gives birth to it.

DAVID AS CASE STUDY:

2 Samuel 11:2 And it came to pass in an eveningtide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king’s house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon.11:3 And David sent and enquired after the woman.

And one said, Is not this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?11:4 And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in unto him, and he lay with her; for she was purified from her uncleanness: and she returned unto her house.

David had so much trouble both within and without as a result of lust, which made him to be guilty of adultery and murder during his reign as a king. He suffered reproach as a result (2Sam. 12:1-12, 16:21-22).

SAMSON AS CASE STUDY:

Judges 16:1 Then went Samson to Gaza, and saw there an harlot, and went in unto her.

Samson did not only sleep with the harlot he met in Gaza but he stayed in her place many days until his enemies captured him.

In Judges 14:5-9, Samson killed a lion in a place called Timnath; and after some days he passed through the same road and found swam of bees had made some honey in the carcass of the dead lion. Samson scooped the honey into his hands and went on eating.

Samson did not controlled his appetite. The honey from the body of a dead lion is an unclean thing because the lion has been dead for some days.

Samson was highly anointed by God. He had so much opportunity to enjoy the glory of God in his days, but due to lust, he lost his eyes, and his destiny was cut short. Samson died before his time.

Lust must have no place in your life. You must do away with it. You cannot walk and bask in glory if lust is in your life.

Note: Lust is a weapon of destruction the devil uses to thwart great destinies from fulfillment.
