Thoughts on Job 10

Does it seem good to You that You should oppress, That You should despise the work of Your hands, And smile on the counsel of the wicked? Job 10:3 NKJV

Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all (Ps 34:19). This is a popular verse on the lips of many, yet, when we face a baffling affliction, the pain we go through sometimes lead us to forget momentarily and we are lured towards feeling sorry for ourselves. For sure, at this point, we are only one step away from self-righteousness.

Quickly, we slip into a dark tunnel where we begin to keep track of “perceived” injustices and mutter how unfair life is treating us, to the point of even laying the blame on God.

This was the case in today’s chapter as Job enters the dimension of self-pity. In frustration, he jumped to the conclusion that God was out to get him.

A lesson to draw from the chapter is the need to remember that life’s trials, whether allowed by God or sent by God, can be the means for our development and refinement(1Peter 1:6-7). Therefore, when faced with diverse trials, rather than “who did this to me or how can I get out of it”? our mindsets should be, “what can I learn, and how can I grow”?

When in doubt, please remind yourself that we know in part and so may not have all the facts. We dare not from our limited experiences jump to conclusions about life in general. Wrong assumptions will lead to wrong conclusions. We can be confident that God wants what is best for our lives, and He can use even the worst situations to accomplish His purposes.

Many people have gone through and endured great pain, but the testimony has always been that some greater good ultimately came from it. So when you are struggling, dont assume the worst….‭‭ For we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. (Rom 8:28)
