Today, we study the Book of Job Chapter Twenty where Zophar The Naamithite profoundly described the Limits of The Wicked.
The Pertinent Principle for us today is THE PROSPERITY OF THE WICKED IS SHORT-LIVED
THEME:
“MERCY v WICKEDNESS”
Key Scripture
Job 20 :5
” That the Triumphing of the Wicked is short and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment”
Scriptures
Job 20 :5
Psalms 73: 3-9
Isaiah 48:22
Isaiah 57:21
Jeremiah 17: 9 -10
Psalms 130:3-4
Exodus 34:6
James 2:13
Psalms 86:3
Psalms 140:1
Reflection One
No Peace for The Wicked”
Psalms 73: 3-9 identified certain attributes of The Wicked:
The Wicked Exhibits Pride
The Wicked is Corrupt
The Wicked is Oppressive
The Wicked speaks against The Heavens!!
Based on these attributes, ZOPHIR concluded that the Wicked deserved Judgment and it is a Matter of Time!!
(Job 20:5)
Indeed, the Bible agrees with Zophir that WICKEDNESS is Not godly and “THERE IS NO PEACE FOR THE WICKED” (Isaiah 48:22) & (Isaiah 57:21)
Folks, WICKEDNESS is NOT desirable and NOT ACCEPTABLE in the Life of believers.
It’s time to REPENT!
Reflection Two
MERCY TRIUMPHS AGAINST JUDGMENT”
Do you know the address of the Wicked?
I guess it’s next Door!
According to The Bible:
“The Heart is deceitful above all things and desperately Wicked”
Who can know it?
(Jeremiah 17:9-10)
Surely, “If thou Lord should mark iniquities, O Lord who shall stand?
(Psalms 130:3)
Maybe we are EQUALLY qualified for that Title “THE WICKED” If Not for The Mercy of God and the Price paid by Our Lord and Saviour- Jesus Christ. Hallelujah!
Indeed, whenever Punishments deserved are Not dispensed – IT IS BECAUSE MERCY IS AT WORK.
We All MUST REPENT from our WICKED WAYS!
What a God of Mercy we serve !
Exodus 34: 6 concluded that “Our Lord, The Lord God, Merciful and gracious, long suffering and abundant in goodness and truth”
(Exodus 34:6)
We rejoice that Mercy is available.
Yes, Mercy triumphs over Judgement
(James 2:13)
The Mercy of God is available if we REPENT from our WICKED WAYS!
Prayers
1. Be Merciful unto me, O Lord: for I cry unto thee DAILY (Psalms 86:3)
2. Deliver me O Lord, from the evil man: preserve me from the violent man.
(Psalms 140:1)
Amen.
