Today, we study the Book of Nehemiah Chapter 1 where Nehemiah fasted and prayed to the Lord God of Heaven because “the wall of jerusalem is broken down & its gates are burned with fire”
The Pertinent Principle for us today is the Power of Prayer to a God of Mercy.
theme:
“The Power of Prayer”

Reflection One
Why do we pray?
We pray for different reasons such as
1. To thank God
2. To ask for forgiveness
3. To ask for for God’s intervention on Earth
4. To ask for direction
5. For God to grant FAVOUR with Men and much more
When confronted with Challenges, let us pray!
We thank God for Nehemiah’s Example – He prayed to the Great & Awesome God.
This is the Confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask ANYTHING according to His Will, He hears us” ( 1 John 5:14)
Jesus told his Disciples to “ALWAYS PRAY & NEVER GIVE UP”
(Luke 18:1 NLT)
Thank you Jesus for DIVINE ACCESS
Remember : John 14:14
If you ask “anything” in my Name, I will do it.
What are we waiting for?
let us pray without ceasing!
Reflection Two
“God’s MERCY confers FAVOUR” (Ps.60:10 – 11)
The Prayer in Nehemiah 1:11 specifically asked that ” let your servant prosper this day & grant him mercy in the sight of this man”
A significant prayer said by Nehemiah for his people is to ask for MERCY which translated to FAVOUR with the King!
Indeed, Nehemiah recognized that King’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, like the rivers of water; The Lord turns it wherever he wishes. (Proverbs 21:1)
What to do?
1. Always approach the Throne of Grace with confidence, so that we may receive MERCY & find Grace to help us in our time of need. (Hebrews 4:16)
2. Why Not Ask for increase in FAVOUR with God and with MAN. (Luke 2:52)
Do Not Forget
The Lord’s Anger is but for a moment, His FAVOUR is for life
(Psalm 30:5)
Prayers
1. Father, we worship and appreciate your faithfulness because you do more than we ask or think imagine when we pray.
(Ephesians 3:20)
2. Father grant us the Grace to “increase in favour with God, kings and with men” in the mighty name of Jesus we pray (Luke 2:52)
Amen.
