Reflections On Ezekiel 27

Today, we study the Book of Ezekiel 27, where the lamentations against Tyre were recorded.

Reflection:
The Lord Brings Low & Lifts Up

Key Scripture

Ezekiel 27:32

“What City is like Tyre, Destroyed in the midst of the sea?

Tyre was a powerful and influential city that offended Almighty God by rejoicing in the ruin of Jerusalem, hence DIVINE JUDGMENT was pronounced and the CITY was destroyed!

Lessons

The Lord Lifts Up
Civilisations and powers in history owe their existence and prominence ultimately to Jehovah
Indeed, “THE LORD LIFTS UP & BRINGS LOW” (1 Samuel 2:7b)

Why Do You Boast
The Apostle asked: “What do you have that you did not receive? Now if you Indeed receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?”

Grace To The Humble
Surely, “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble”

Conclusion
It is unfortunate that destruction of individual career, ministries and organisations are rooted in PRIDE!

The Scriptures do not lie – PRIDE goes before DESTRUCTION, a HAUGHTY SPIRIT before a FALL”

Prayer
Father, we receive the grace for humility in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen

Reflection on Ezekiel 28

Ezekiel 28:26 NLT

They will live safely in Israel and build homes and plant vineyards. And when I punish the neighboring nations that treated them with contempt, they will know that I am the Lord their God.”

As we continue our reading of the Book of Ezekiel, we come to an understanding that God has an intense desire for His people to know Him. In truth, His purpose in the judgement and the restoration of His people was that they will know Him as the LORD. Similarly, this purpose is expressed in His judgement of the nations that mocked, boasted against and attacked Jerusalem….. “then they will know that I am the Lord”….

God has not changed, He is the same yesterday, and today and forever, and so it is not presumptuous to conclude that in this generation, His desire remains the same- “For the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea” (Is 11:9b)

The implication of all this is that as a child of God, you have a part in covering the earth with the knowledge of the Lord as empowered by the Holy Spirit (also enshrined in the Living Faith Foundation’s Reach, Raise and Rule Mandate)

Clearly, there are various things today that men cling to as god, but it is the responsibility of those that know the true God (the church) to make known the manifold wisdom of God to the principalities and powers holding them captive from the knowledge of the Lord.

Apart from this, a child of God that is nonchalant towards personal growth in the knowledge of the Lord, runs the risk of being in bondage to the elements of the world (Galatians 4:2-3).

Paul also warns in 1 Timothy 4:1 NKJV, that some (christians) will give heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, the result of which is total departure from the faith.

How then can we increase our knowledge of God?

The word of God is the foundation of any claim we may have to increase. Without giving priority to the word of God, the supernatural manifestations of God in our lives (exploits) will only remain in the realm of imagination.

In Matt 7:24, our Lord Jesus likens a person who prioritize His word and acts on them as wise. That foundation becomes a formidable barrier on the day of Adversity (likened to rain, the floods and the winds)

It is therefore the responsibility of each person to engage the Word of God in the following ways:

-Reading

-Meditation

– Studying

– Application

Continuing in these assures us of being fruitful in every good work and being well pleasing to Him who has called us as His own.
