Thoughts On Ezekiel 6

Today, we study the Book of Ezekiel Chapter 6 where God pronounced JUDGMENT ON ISRAEL as a result of IDOLATRY.

REFLECTION:

“NO OTHER GOD”

Key Scripture

And they shall know that I am the Lord; I have not said in vain that I would bring this calamity upon them.”

Hence as a result of Idolatry, Israel suffered:

Destruction

Desolate Altars

& Death

THE ONLY TRUE GOD

We can declare that: ” Our God is in heaven. Whereas other pretenders are IDOLS- work of men’s hands.

(Psalms 115: 1-9)

A COMMANDMENT

God specifically commanded that :”You shall have no other gods before Me”

(Exodus 20:3)

This commandment made IDOLATORY a sin before God.

Hence, the judgment of God as recorded in Ezekiel Chapter 6.

LESSONS

1. IMMUTABILITY

The Counsel of God is immutable.

( Hebrews 6:17-18)

2. A SERIOUS ISSUE

God regards REBELLION as a sin of witchcraft

(1 Samuel 15:23)

3. CONSEQUENCES

There are consequences for disobedience such as pestilence, famine and captivity!

WHAT TO DO?

1. OBEDIENCE

Obedience is better than sacrifice!

( 1 Samuel 15:22)

2. REPENTANCE

When we accept our errors, the course of action is to REPENT- A change of mind.

3. MERCY

The Lord God is merciful and gracious

( Exodus 34:7)

In his mercy, He forgives His People and leaves a REMNANT.

PRAYER

Father, grant us the wisdom to KNOW your WILL and the GRACE to OBEY and serve you FAITHFULLY in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Amen.

Thoughts on Ezekiel chapter 7

No hope remains, for I will unleash my anger against you. I will call you to account for all your detestable sins. I will turn my eyes away and show no pity. I will repay you for all your detestable sins. Then you will know that I am the Lord (Ezekiel 7:3-4 NLT)

God’s dealing with man is multidimensional. For the most part, we have tasted of His love as a Father and a Friend. Yet, there’s a dimension of Him that we cannot ignore- He is also a judge! Ps 7:11, Ps 50:6 He rules with righteousness and justice Ps 97:2.

In Ezekiel chapter 7, the prophet predicts the complete destruction of Judah. Israel and Judah had taken His love for granted, rebelled against God, forgetting the terms of their election outlined in Exodus 19:5-6 NLT…

Now, if you will obey me and keep my covenant, you will be my own special treasure from among all the peoples on earth; for all the earth belongs to me. And you will be my kingdom of priests, my holy nation.’ This is the message you must give to the people of Israel.”

Starting with the book of Isaiah, through Jeremiah and now on to Ezekiel, we have seen how Israel made light of God’s warnings, and inevitably, the Day of the Lord has come upon them.

The wicked and proud will finally get what they deserve. This day of judgement is the day of reckoning when sinners will be punished and injustices reversed.

Thankfully, in the last couple of weeks, we have had the opportunity to be reminded corporately through our Bible Study series on Eschatology, details of what lies in store for anyone that fails to take the way of escape Christ has provided through the Rapture of the Church (those that born again and living right by Him) for a time of great

Tribulation will be visited upon the inhabitants of the earth, old and young, rich and poor, kings and princes, all will have their day in court!

For believers, Hebrews 2:1-3 warns us to give earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away or

neglect such great a salvation. We must not follow the example of Judah, in forgetting whose we are, and to what we are called.

2 Corinthians 4:17 reminds us that our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.

As we continue reading the book of Ezekiel, let’s keep in mind the words of Jesus to the church in Sardis

(Revelation 3:1-2 NKJV)

“And to the angel of the church in Sardis write, ‘These things says He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars: “I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead. Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die, for I have not found your works perfect before God.

May God grant us grace to separate from any pursuits, desires, or resources that seek to rob us of our reward from God or lead us away from God’s Will finding expression in our lives in Jesus’ name 🙏
