REFLECTIONS ON JEREMIAH 35
Today, we study the Book of Jeremiah Chapter 35, where the blessings of obedience are demonstrated through the Rechabites.
REFLECTION:
“THE BLESSINGS OF OBEYING THE LORD”
Key Scripture
“Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Isarael:’Because you have obeyed the commandment of Jonadab your father, and kept all his precepts and done according to all he commanded you therefore thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel:
” JONADAB THE SON OF RECHAB SHALL NOT LACK A MAN TO STAND BEFORE ME FOREVER”
(Jeremiah 35:18-19)
According to Luke 11:28, the bible submitted that “more than these, BLESSED are those who hear the word of God and keep it.”
LESSONS
Parents have a duty to teach their children in the way of the Lord
Children should NOT depart from parental instructions.
Obedience qualifies us for certain blessings
THE RECHABITES
Brethren, the sons of Jonadab against all odds OBEYED the Lord as instructed by their father!
Then, Almighty God pronounced a GENERATIONAL BLESSING on the RECHABITES.
Hallelujah!!!
Surely, God is good and allows the sun and rain to benefit the just and the unjust. (Matthew 5:45)
Deuteronomy 28:1-13 declared divine blessings with CONDITIONS
FATHER ABRAHAM
A very important lesson from this encounter is that the father directs/ instructs/ commands the children as Abraham did and was commended by God
(Genesis 18:18-19)
WHAT TO DO?
We need to wait on the Lord to know His Word and obey.
Parents are to instruct/direct/ command their children
Children are to obey the Lord & honour their parents.
Generational blessings have been activated by many families through obedience the same way the RECHABITES were blessed.
PRAYER
(Jeremiah 7:23)
Dear Father, help us obey Your VOICE and walk in all the WAYS that you have commanded yes.
We thank you, Lord, that by obedience, it shall be well with us.
Amen.
