JOEL 1
The chapter one of Joel describes a devastating locust plague that has ravaged the land, leaving behind widespread destruction and famine. It calls for the people to lament, fast and gather at the temple for a solemn assembly to plead for God’s mercy.
This chapter serves as a warning, suggesting that the locusts are prelude to a greater judgment, “The Day of The LORD.”
LESSONS
Brethren, it is sin that brought problems, sickness and death into the world. That is what is happening in most cases today to individuals, families and nations.
For instance, what is happening in our nation Nigeria today is as a result of sin.
The solution to this problem is national repentance!
Just like one of our Pastors usually says, “If there is a mouth to pray, there is a God to answer.
This is to buttress what 2 Chronicles 7:14 says, “If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
PRAYER
FATHER, have mercy on us, forgive our sin and heal our land in Jesus Christ’s Mighty Name! Amen!
Thank You Jesus!
REFLECTIONS ON JOEL CHAPTER TWO
Today, we study the Book of Joel Chapter Two,where the
Pattern of Repentance, Restoration, and More Blessings was once again demonstrated.
This again is a testimony to the Mercifulness of Jehovah.
REFLECTION:
“DIVINE RESTORATION”
KEY SCRIPTURE
“I will restore to you the years that the swarming locusts has eaten, the crawling locusts, the consuming locusts. And chewing locusts”
(Joel 2:25) NKJV
The main message of Joel Chapter Two is a call to Repentance and promise of Restoration after suffering.
LESSONS
TOUGH LOVE
The chastisement of the Lord is never enjoyable – For the Lord disciplines the ones he loves (Hebrews 12:6)
WE NEED PROPHETS
The Lord reveals God’s will, and WARNINGS- Prophet Joel was raised for similar assignments.
DAY OF THE LORD
‘The Day of the Lord’ usually refers to God’s interventions in human affairs.
As we all look forward to the ‘ETERNAL JUDGMENT’, periodic interventions as judgment or supernatural activities represent “days of the Lord”
We pray that when the Lord shall visit us, it shall be for BLESSINGS.Amen.
RESTORATION
Restoration is an act of divine mercy – Yet requires repentance.
The Lord is faithful and merciful to restore as He promised that:
“If my people who are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; Then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and heal their land.
(2 Chronicles 7:14)
WE THANK THE LORD FOR RESTORATION!
PRAYER (Job 42:12)
Father, we pray that You bless the latter part of our lives more than the former days in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Amen.
