THEME: TO BE MORAL IS MORE HONOURABLE AND MORE VALUABLE THAN TO BE RICH.

This chapter has references that contrast the value of integrity with that of earthly wealth. “To be moral is more honorable and more valuable than to be rich.”

Despite this truth, the world has an unfortunate habit of fawning over the rich while sneering at the poor.
Verses 6 and 7 confirm this fact. “Many will intreat the favor of a Prince: and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts.”
Verse7 says, “All the brethren of the poor do hate him : how much more do his friends go far from him?…”

Verses 5 and 9 emphasize on the rewards of liars: “A false witness shall not be unpunished and he that speaketh lies, verse 5 says, shall not escape while verse 9 says, shall perish.

Supporting Scripture Revelations 21:8G…” and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone which is the second death.”

Verse 2A says, “Also, that a soul be without knowledge, it is not good…”

This emphasizes the importance of instructions: acquiring knowledge through learning. Let us go to school to learn or acquire knowledge at home by hiring an instructor to teach you something. No child of God should be deprived of instructions. Go to school, Bible school, learn a trade, etc.

Verse20 instructs us: “Hear counsel and receive instruction that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

Verse14 talks about a wife of wisdom, self-control and appropriate living is a greater gift than houses and riches which is the inheritance of fathers because a wife who is not prudent may waste whatever wealth a man has.
