Reflections On Psalms 111
Today, we study the Book of Psalms Chapter One hundred and Eleven, where it is emphasised that The Lord “will ever be mindful of His COVENANT”
Theme:
“Covenant Keeping God”
Key Scripture
Psalms 111:4-5
“The Lord is gracious and full of Compassion. He has given food to those who fear Him; He will ever be mindful of His Covenant”
Reflection
“The Faithful God Who Keeps Covenant”
Deuteronomy 7 verse 9 describes Our God as “The Faithful God who keeps Covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments.
God made Covenant with Abraham according to Genesis 12: 1-3, where the Lord said to Abram, : “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed”
Promises Of Covenant
The Covenant promised:
1. The Land
2. The Seed
3. The Blessing
The Abrahamic Covenant is still applicable TODAY.
There are renewals of this covenant through Noah/ Abraham/David.
(Deut. 31: 31- 34)
The Renewed Covenant according to Hebrews 8 from verse 10 is with a guarantee that “He will be their God and they will be My People”
(Hebrews 8:8-12)
Jesus – The Blessing
Through Abraham, every nation on earth has been blessed – Jesus is “The Blessing”
He was born without sin YET was crucified for our sins. He rose again and He is Alive forever.
Hallelujah!
Abraham’s Blessing
Finally, Galatians 3:13-14 confirmed that ” Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is every one who hangs on a tree”), that THE BLESSING OF ABRAHAM might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
We Are Partakers!
Brethren, Christ and those who are partakers with Christ – The Believers- you & i are the beneficiaries of Abraham’s Blessing.
Conclusion
A Covenant made about the year 1800 BC still holds in 2024 AD is almost 4000 years old
Psalms 33:11 confirms that “The Counsel of The Lord standeth for ever, the thoughts of His Heart to ALL GENERATIONS.
He Is Covenant Keeping God.
Hallelujah!
