that they all may be one, as YOU, Father, are in Me, and I in YOU; that they also may be one in US, that the world may believe that YOU sent ME.

Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.
1 John 2:9 – 10
He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now..He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him.
This is the shortest chapter in the book of psalms. It starts with “Behold” which is calling attention to the quality of brother hood that is acceptable to GOD and is able to command GOD’s blessings.
It uses such descriptive and distinctive words like:
“Good” “Pleasant”, Precious Oil on the head of a priest
“Dew of hermon” descending upon the *mountains of zion
The chapter easily catches one’s attention by the nature of the descriptive words used and the brevity of the chapter, portraying unity in brotherhood as sacred and solid.
It is this brotherhood, thus described here that commands GOD’s blessing.
Command is a powerful word. The more powerful commands the lesser.
But here who can dare command GOD’s blessings? GOD tells us.
It is not a who, but what. And it clearly says it is the unity found in brotherhood that GOD gives the privilege to command HIS blessings. And GOD brings it home in 3 short verses that are easy to remember.
Then throughout the bible, we see GOD explaining further with examples, the power and glory found in such unity as we can see in the supporting verses.
In this year that the LORD has assured us that we will walk and bask in HIS glory. One of the criteria that must be met is identifying with this quality of brotherhood.
Who are your brothers?
The brethren in the church, the family. Most families, church relationship are dysfunctional. GOD is aware and HIS answer to this is “As far as it depends on us, we should live peaceably with all men.
If your brother offends you 70x, you forgive him , 70 x 7 times because HE HIMSELF
Forgives us our trespasses but only as far as we are willing to forgive those who trespass against us.
In 1 john, We were meant to understand that anyone who hates his brother lives in total ignorance and does not understand the love of GOD.
We see those love in David’s conduct with Saul and Joseph’s with his brothers.
So if we want GOD’s blessings in every area of our lives, we know what to do. it depends on us. This chapter tells us exactly how.
Take Away
1. GOD expects us to love those HE gave us as brethren, whether in church or our families and relate in unity.
2. GOD attaches a great reward when we are able against all odds to keep the bond of unity in the brotherhood.
3. No matter how difficult it might be, GOD grants us grace to make the needed effort and sacrifice to reconcile whatever differences we may have with our brethren
4. GOD needs the unity among brethren to release a mighty blessing upon churches, upon families
5. Strong unified families and churches easily attract great blessings from GOD.
Prayer Point
