THOUGHTS ON PSALM 134
THEME: Blessing God and being blessed by God.
This Psalm reminds me of a song we used to sing in my former choir.
It is a call and response.
Behold, bless ye the LORD
All ye servants of the LORD
Lift up your hands in the Sanctuary and bless
Bless ye the LORD
Behold, bless ye the LORD
Behold, bless ye the LORD
Behold, bless ye the LORD.
This Psalm closes out the Psalms of ascents by teaching us that the life that blesses God is a life that is blessed by God. The very act of praising God is a blessing in itself. In addition, God promises to add His own blessing to it. Our whole lives are meant to be worship in every thought, every word and every action.
We bless God by praising Him for who He is and for what He has done and God blesses us by loving us and providing for us. That is what Psalm 134 is all about : blessing God and being blessed by God. The life that blesses God is a life that is blessed by God.
PEOPLE OF GOD, LET US BEGIN TO PRAISE GOD AND NEVER STOP PRAISING HIM.
King David said that he praised God seven times a day. Psalm 119:164-165 . We can even do more than that. Let our whole lives give God a quality praise always.
PRAYER
FATHER, help us to praise You all of our days that we may enjoy Your blessings always in Jesus Christ’s Mighty Name! Amen!
Thank You Jesus!
