THOUGHTS ON PSALM 54
THEMES: A PRAYER FOR GOD’S VINDICATION, SUPREME TRUST IN GOD’S DELIVERANCE AND A VOW OF THANKSGIVING TO GOD.
This Psalm is the episode between king Saul and David.
It is David’s prayer to God for vindication. He asked God to rescue him from his enemies round about him whom he called “Strangers” in verse 3.
King Saul was envious of David and sought to eliminate him by all means because he saw David as a threat to the continuity of his throne. He has been chasing David about everywhere in his kingdom to kill him.
The Ziphites betrayed David by reporting to Saul that David was taking a cover among them.
Saul went about chasing David and his men to the Wilderness of Moan where he almost captured David and his men but for God’s intervention!
God delivered David and his men that day from the hands of King Saul and his men by sending the Philistines to fight against Saul and his men. 1 Samuel 23:26-28.
People of God, as God sent the Philistines to attack King Saul’s kingdom in order to deliver David and his men from the hands of Saul, that is how God will send distractions to our enemies who are round about us even as it is written in Job 5:12,
“He disappoints the devices of the crafty so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise.”
LESSON:
As God fought for David and delivered him and his men from the hands of King Saul, so will God deliver all His people from the hands of their strong enemies in Jesus Christ’s Mighty Name! Amen!
PRAYER
Thank You Father because You are with us as a Mighty Terrible One! As You fought for David and gave him victory over all his enemies so will You fight for us and give us victory on every side in Jesus Christ’s Mighty Name! Amen!
Thank You Father!
