Thoughts on Psalm 45
My heart is overflowing with a good theme; I recite my composition concerning the King; My tongue is the pen of a ready writer.
Psalms 45:1 NKJV
The Reading today is an emotional wedding song prefigures prophetically the relationship of Christ and His bride, the Church (Eph 5:32), who will praise Him throughout all generations.
Can you ponder for just a moment and find out- What theme is in your heart this morning concerning the Lord our King.
What is your tongue declaring to Him this beautiful day?
A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things……..Against all odds, put your praise on, be thank-full that you can still breathe.
The Psalmist’s pen flowed ceaselessly as a reflection of the wonderful things that were in his heart about his King.
This is our cue. As believers, we have a new identity and we are not called to change with the seasons of life. Our new reality is that behoves us in season, or out of season, to praise the One to whom we now belong.
Verses 10-11 is acall to action to forget the things (including people, culture, tradition, norms,etc) that reminds us of the old life which threatens fidelity to the new life modeled after the Christ, our King, who desire us to worship Him in truth.
Philipians 4:4, says, Rejoice in the Lord always; Again I say, rejoice.
Outside of the Lord, the command will be a tough call, for there may be little or nothing to cheer at the moment.
However, if we can look up and remove our gazes from those things which are seen (which are temporary) to focus more on His word and let them abide in us, He promised that He will never leave nor forsake us, so that we can boldly declare “The Lord is our Helper.
Psalm 45:7 reminds us that the Lord loves Righteousness and hates evil. As His bride, having His righteousness by faith, likewise we must flee all appearances of evil.
Even where majority are on a path that seems right in their own sight, but goes contrary to the standard of the Bible, please do right by God and STAND.
An understanding of the power of righteousness provides the encouragement that is needed for us not to be swayed, discouraged or tossed to and fro by all manner of doctrines flying around today.
This guarantees that we walk and bask in His glory just as He has spoken.
The work of righteousness will be peace, And the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever. (Is 32:17)
