Romans 12:1-2

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Are you beginning to consider skipping church services due to one reason or the other? Have you been thinking of how to dodge responsibilities in church because you no longer want to be as committed as you used to be? Or are you a perfect description of someone who has never been committed to service in the church of God? If yes, then you really need to read through this write up on consequences of not going to church.

Without a doubt, we are in the end times as explained in 2 Timothy 3:1-13 and as a result of this, another prophecy given in Matthew 24:12 “The love of many shall wax cold” is already coming to pass in different ways, which includes but not restricted to church attendance.

Many now find it comfortable to stay back in their homes busy with other activities rather than going to serve the one who owns their souls (Luke 12:16-21).

Especially with the online method of holding services which became popular during the pandemic period, many have gotten so relaxed and used to not attending physical church services that they no longer desire to be in the gathering of the brethren whether virtual or actual.

An important question you may need to ask yourself is “What is the will of God as regards attendance to the gathering of the brethren”
Wondering why you should inquire what the will of God is? The bible admonishes us In Romans 12v2kjv not to be conformed to the standard of this world but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds, (paraphrased) why? That we may prove the good, acceptable and perfect will of God, so it is quite important that you find out what the will of God is for you in every situation especially as it concerns the things of the kingdom of God.

Speaking on what the Will of God is regarding church attendance, the Bible says in Hebrews 10:25kjv “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as all of you see the day approaching.”

This scripture clearly states that we should not forsake the gathering of ourselves as believers, hence the will of God is for you to attend church services.

If you are still not convinced as to why you need to resume/continue attending church services, we will be sharing with you consequences of not attending church services below:

Consequences Of Not Going To Church

1. Disobedience Against God

Refusal to attend church services is a total disobedience against God’s command, and as you may already know disobedience before God is as great as the sin of witchcraft (1 Samuel 15:23) and you may be exposing yourself to attacks by the devil, therefore attending church service is what’s best for you.

2. Spiritual Mal-Nutrition.

Another consequence of not attending church service has to do with your spirit man, it is majorly in church where you will hear the Word of God well interpreted to you, from church you will receive insight from the Word in order to feed your spirit and soul to grow to maturity in Christ, so when you don’t attend church services, you leave your spirit with no other option than to be malnourished, immature, and unprepared for days of adversity.

The danger involved in a malnourished soul (a soul not equipped with God’s word) is that when trials and temptations come, you may not have the stamina to withstand the works of devil. (Proverbs 24:10)

3. It May Lead You To Compromise

When your heart is no longer feeding on the well interpreted Word of God, full of Wisdom, you may begin to lower your standard and to compromise your stand in God, especially because you’re no longer in the gathering of those who can encourage you to remain standing in God, and compromising one’s faith does one major thing: it invites the enemy into a person’s life.

4. You Deprive Yourself Of Been Blessed

This is so true! The bible says God rewards those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6), seeking him is not just about sitting at home studying and praying alone, it also implies been in the gathering of the brethren, contributing your skills, talents, spiritual gifts to the edification of the body of Christ.
Seeking him is also about knowing His will and following His will for your life (one of his will for us, is not forsaking the gathering of the brethren)
So to be blessed, you must be available in church, ready to serve, worship and praise your maker.

5. Your Race To Heaven Becomes Lonely And Un-interesting

The main purpose of church is to encourage believers and help us in the areas of need both spiritually and physically so that in our journey to heaven, we will be lacking nothing, and so that we may actually end in heaven (Hebrews 12:1-29), but when you decide not to attend church services, the race will become lonely and you may eventually give up.

Not attending church service has dire consequences for both the new believers and those believers who have been in church for quite a long time. Hence, you should not even consider missing church for any reason.

Remember the end goal of our salvation is to make heaven, and we are taught never to entertain anything that can jeopardize our hope of eternity with Christ (Matthew 5:29).
