“And he arose, and went into the house; and he poured the oil on his head, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I have anointed thee king over the people of the LORD, even over Israel.” (2 Kings 9: 6).
Before Jehu was anointed as King, he was called out from the midst of his fellow captains. He detached himself from some people in order to step into the new level of royalty; he moved away from people he had been with in order to become what he had not yet become; he left the crowd before being anointed.
Friend, if excellence will beckon on you, God needs to take you away from some places, relationship circles, habits, attitudes, behaviours, lifestyles, etc. Your next level may not come until you walk away from some places, people and attitudes.
If you want to become all that God wants you to become, then discern the places you no longer need to be in, and the people you no longer need to be with. Discover the people you should spend less time with; know the activities/associations that are not necessary in your next level; know the habits you need to detach from.
As long as Jehu remained with his fellow captains, he remained a captain; but when he stepped out of their midst, he became the king. You may never rise above some places and some people until you take some steps away from them.
If you remain with them, you might remain on the same level with them. If you remain at wrong places, you might miss the right opportunities that God has in store for you.
2 Corinthians 6 vs. 17 sums it up this way: “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,”.
Pray With Me:
Lord, help me to discern and discard every needless company, in Jesus’ name!
