SEEKING FOR GOD’S MERCY
TEXTS;
1 John 1:7-10
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. [8] If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. [9] If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. [10] If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
Proverbs 28:13
He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
At all times, the mercies of God must precede our prayers, to give it free access to the throne of God. We can’t approach God with unclean hands and hearts if we sincerely need to see God in our prayers. Many in self righteousness see themselves as being free from sin, but he that says he has no sin is a liar. Job understood this principle hence he will often offer sacrifice to consecrate his children even when he has not found them committing any sin. Even if anyone thinks he or she is a saint, God’s mercy cannot be too much, we all need it.
There are four categories of sinners in church;
1. Those outrightly living in sin. They know it’s sin but they are still doing it.
2. Those living in secret sins. They know is not good but they’re battling with it secretly.
3. Those sinning unconsciously.
4. Those committing sin but think they are doing righteousness.
♦️The sin of Achan slowed down the children of Israel. As a family, we don’t know whose sin is slowing us down in the Living Faith Foundation.
Joshua 7:1
But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the Lord was kindled against the children of Israel.
Joshua 7:6
And Joshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth upon his face before the ark of the Lord until the eventide, he and the elders of Israel, and put dust upon their heads.
♦️The sin of Mariam slowed down the children of Israel.
♦️ David sinned and the entire nation of Israel suffered.
▪️There are some doors that sin have shut against us, mercy will open those doors.
▪️There are some answers to our prayers withheld because of sin, those answers will be released by mercy.
▪️There are levels of revival and encounter that are elusive because of sin, mercy will take us there.
Therefore, as we embark on this journey of 40 days, let’s seek God’s mercies genuinely and sincerely.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Oh God of mercy, please have mercy upon me for all my known sins. Mention them!
2. Father, forgive me of all unconscious and unknown sins hindering my prayers in Jesus name.
3. Oh God, have mercy on
us at Living Faith Foundation.
4. In case there is any Achan among us slowing us down, Father, for the sake of your covenant have mercy upon us.
5. Oh Father, remember the precious blood of your son that was shed on the cross of Calvary and let our iniquities be purged.
6. Oh God, forgive our leaders for all their sins and errors in Jesus name.
7. O God, open the door of mercy upon us as an individual, family, church and the nation in Jesus name.
8. In this 40 days fasting, let your mercies speak louder than the voice of judgement in Jesus name.
