INSIGHTS FROM GENESIS CHAPTER 6
Genesis 6:5
And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was evil continually.
Without GOD, the propensity in man to do evil is beyond imagination. From disobeying GOD by eating the forbidden fruit to Cain’s jealous rage that led him to commit the very first murder to unequal yoke in marriage as we see here in genesis6:1 – 4. From there the whole human race spiraled into sin, corruption and depravity, pleasing themselves only affecting even other living things.
Of note is that all these wickedness are acts of rebellion at different levels. What leads a man to be wicked ( corrupt and depraved) is sin. Sin is separation from GOD through rebellion to GOD’s word, whether it is ina small way or big way. This saddens GOD totally.
It is sin that reduces man’s longevity on earth. Gen6:3
Whenever sin overwhelms creation, GOD always intervenes in the affairs of man to ensure that HIS creation is not hijacked. gen6: 7 – 8
GOD intervenes to separate the righteous from the wicked; punish the wicked and make a way of escape for the righteous, preserving them and making detailed provision for them in every situation.
God intervenes in the affairs of man through a man who HE finds to be upright; this time he found such a man in Noah.
Before GOD takes any action on man whether good or bad, HE must make it clearly known to man.
No matter how often a man gets away with the pleasures of sin, there is a day of judgment awaiting everyone.
Genesis 6 is the 1s prophecy pointing us to a future event that will be more permanent where the wicked will be separated from the righteous in an everlasting torment and the righteous will be saved to reign with CHRIST forever in glory.
GOD will ultimately punish the wicked and preserve the righteous. May the LORD help us to live a life that will attract the grace of GOD into our lives in the midst of so much wickedness.
