THOUGHTS ON EXODUS CHAPTER 34.
I. God is pleased when we seek His face early in the morning. It is one of the ways to show that He is first in our lives.
2. God does not like distraction when we communicate with Him.
He specifically told Moses In verse 3 not to allow anybody to come to the mountain with him. He should come alone. He should not allow any animal to graze
around the mountain.
3. God told Moses His attributes in verses 5- 7.
Verses 6-7,” And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, THE LORD, THE LORD GOD, MERCIFUL AND GRACIOUS, LONGSUFFERING, AND ABUNDANT IN GOODNESS AND TRUTH, KEEPING MERCY FOR THOUSANDS, FORGIVING INIQUITY AND TRANSGRESSIONS AND SIN AND THAT WILL BY NO MEANS CLEAR THE GUILTY; VISITING THE INIQUITY OF THE FATHERS UPON THE CHILDREN, AND UPON THE CHILDREN’S CHILDREN, UNTO THE THIRD AND TO THE FOURTH GENERATION”
This proclamation of His person is because of what He told Moses to do in Verse 1. God asked Moses to cut out two tablets of stone after he had broken the first one so that God can ‘write on them again.
The first commandments were given by God without Moses’ contribution but he broke it, God asked him to do the cutting of the stones while He God writes on them.
We have to be careful not to take God’s goodness for granted.
God says that He is a jealous God and that His Name is Jealous in Verse 14.
From what is written in ‘Verse 15, it is not good for a Christian to eat the meat that Muslims use for their rituals.
So, children of God, ” BE WARNED!”
