Thoughts on Exodus 39
……Then Moses looked over all the work, and indeed they had done it; as the Lord had commanded, just so they had done it. And Moses blessed them…..
(Exodus 39:43)
Exodus 35-39 records the obedience of the Isrealites in following the instructions for the Tabernacle, as given to Moses during his first 40 days on Mount Sinai(Exodus 25:1 to Exodus 31:18)
Looking back on these chapters and seeing how God was keenly interested in every minute detail (even what we may regard as the little things) involved in building the Tabernacle reminds me of Matthew 10:30 which says that God knows the number of hairs on our heads. This gives us an assurance that God is greatly interested in us and so we must never cast away our confidence to always talk to Him about any of our concerns- no matter how small or unimportant they might seem.
In today’s chapter, the Tabernacle was finally complete. And in a fashion reminiscent of God inspecting what He had made, approving it and blessing it in Genesis chapter 1, Moses inspected the finished work, saw that it was done the way God wanted and blessed them. This is another important management lesson to learn from Moses. He gave important responsibilities to others and then *trusted* them to do the job. Great leaders give plans and direction while letting others participate on the team.
A good leader also follows up on assigned tasks and gives rewards for good work. In whatever responsible position we find ourselves, follow up is important to ensure that tasks are completed as intended. In the same vain, we should show our appreciation to the people who have helped.
As we prepare to round up reading the book of Exodus, may the many insights we have gained not slip away from us in Jesus name 🙏
