RACAD Genesis 29 Highlights
Genesis 29 is the story of the journey of Jacob to the House of his Uncle Laban.
THREE KEY LESSONS
1. GEN. 29: 7-8
NOT THE WAY “THEY” USED TO DO THINGS
Jacob expertly recommended that “THEY” should water the sheep
But “THEY” said: “WE” cannot until all the flocks are gathered together and the STONE is rolled from the mouth of the well”
Lesson 1
Progress most times is achieved by “Thinking outside the Box / Challenging the Status Quo”
Jacob turned the belief system upside down and rolled the Stone!
2. GEN 29: 21-27
DECEPTION BEGETS DECEPTION
Jacob has “surplanted” his brother, Esau and UNETHICALLY procured Esau’s Birthright and Blessing (Gen 25: 19-34 GEN 26:34- GEN 28:9).
Laban, his uncle also dealt with him DECEITFULLY and UNETHICALLY!!
Jacob had to serve extra SEVEN years before he was given Rachel as a wife.
Lesson 2
There are consequences for our actions and inactions. Indeed, “a man reaps what he sows” (Gal 6:7)
3. GEN 29:28-30
ENDURING TO THE END!
Jacob did not give up despite the set back of serving Laban extra SEVEN years for the sake of Rachel.
Last, Last, Jacob married and loved Rachel after FOURTEEN YEARS of waiting and service to Laban.
Indeed Jesus said ;” NO one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom”
Lesson 3
The One who endures and bears up (under suffering) to the end will be saved)
Matthew 24:13
