Genesis 43 recorded the second journey of Joseph’s brothers to Egypt
A study of this Chapter shows “FAINTING MEN” yet “THE SURE MERCIES OF JEHOVAH AT WORK NONE THE LESS”
LESSONS
1. Genesis 43:1-3
ONE INCIDENT OR EXPERIENCE SHOULD NOT DEFINE OUR LIFE FOREVER
According to Genesis 43: Jacob was reluctant to allow Benjamin to travel to Egypt for FEAR of ANOTHER Loss in view of Joseph’s “RUMOURED” Demise.
Yet, Joseph is Alive & Well.
Truly, God is able to protect us from every danger.
2. Genesis 43:14
“If I am bereaved, I am bereaved”
This is Fatalism & Pessimism based on FEAR!!
We should avoid such Confessions, rather Confess the Divine Protection of The Almighty in the face of Dangers_ REAL OR IMAGINED.
“FEAR” has been described as “FALSE EXPERIENCES APPEARING AS REALITY”
Dear Brethren, Fear is the Opposite of Faith
Yes, we should be led by the Spirit YET, we Must take those STEPS OF FAITH
“Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained!
Eventually,the Journey was a success and Isreal was saved from Starvation.
3. Genesis 43: 14
VERY IMPORTANT PRAYER
“MAY GOD GIVE YOU MERCY”
When faced with Challenge(s) WHAT IS OUR DEFAULT SETTING?
Options:
(i) Fear (ii) Fainting (iii) Failure or (iv) Faith
As we use to sing in Junior Church_”Prayer is the Master Key”
Prayer is a Step of Faith
Thank God, Jacob remembered to pray for MERCY!
I believe God answered and did Exceedingly Abundantly Above the Prayer : God gave them
“FAVOUR plus MERCY” hence Joseph spared their lives.
4. Genesis 43:8-9
“DEPENDABLE JUDAH”
Can SOMEBODY Say Amen to this Special Prayer_ “MAY THE LORD DEPEND ON ME”
(Amen & Amen)
One of the CONSEQUENTIAL CHARACTERS in the Bible is DADDY JUDAH.
According to Genesis 37:26 -36, It was the intervention of Daddy Judah that saved JOSEPH’s life, instead of Death, Joseph was sold to Egypt.
In Gen 43:8, Judah again rose to the Ocassion and accepted RESPONSIBILITY for Benjamin by extension saving ISRAEL :
“THEN JUDAH SAID TO ISRAEL, HIS FATHER, “SEND THE LAD WITH ME…..THEN LET ME BEAR THE BLAME FOREVER” Gen 43:8
This is Faith in Action.
In 1 Chronicles 5: 2, the Bible concluded that
“JUDAH PREVAILED OVER HIS BROTHERS, AND FROM HIM CAME A RULER, ALTHOUGH THE BIRTHRIGHT WAS JOSEPH’S”
The Lesson
Heaven usually entrusts ASSIGNMENTS based on Track Records and NOT ACCORDING to Seniority or Genealogy!!
Hence, The Tribe of Judah had the Singular Honour to be Tribe that brought forth Jesse, David and Our Saviour Jesus Christ
WHAT A PRIVILEGE!!
JACOB’S BLESSING/ LAST WORDS ON JUDAH
Genesis 49:8
“Judah, you are he whom your brothers shall praise; Your hand shall be on the neck of your enemies; Your father’s children shall BOW DOWN before you”
CONFESSION:
“Father, count me amongst the Dependables; I am AVAILABLE, Here I am, send Me”
PRAYERS
1. Father, help us to TRUST YOUR WORD and NOT be Discouraged/Paralysed by History, Experts, Circumstances and Rumors.
Amen.
2.Father, grant us MERCY & FAVOUR with You and with Men and save us from ERRORS.
Amen.
3.Father, INCREASE our Faith and grant us The Privilege & Opportunities for EXPLOITS like DADDY JUDAH
