The Bible says in John 15:16 “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you”.
There are sometimes that we think that soul winning is meant for only the pastors and ordained brethren, but that is not true, as a matter of fact by scriptural standard, every believer born again is a minister, so you are a Priest.
You have been ordained by God, you may be wondering, when was I ordained by God?, Revelation 1:5-6 says: “And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen”.
So as far as you have given your life to Christ you have been ordained as priest and king unto God.
By New testament standard, every believer is a priest, this is why Jesus said “ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you and ordained you”.
Many are lazy in the church because they believe the work of evangelism is meant for the pastors, ministers, etc, No!
As far as one is born again, you are a royal priesthood, you have been ordained by God.
In the old testament you can’t be a priest and king but in the New testament, we (believers) are priests and kings.
Check 1 Peter 2:5, it says: “ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ”.
The truth we are looking at today is: as a priest what are you called to do? As a priest you are meant to represent God and that representation is basically soul winning.
A priest is a mediator between God and man so every believer’s first primary assignment is to win souls. You must be a priest, and be ready to represent Christ everywhere you go.
That’s why Christ said ye have not chosen me but I have chosen you and ordained you to Go! (John 15).
To go where exact? To go and make disciples of all nations. ( Matthew Mark 16:15)
Unfortunately many believer are not on the “going”, so they don’t have the great commission rather they have the great “ommission”
Check yourself, is that what is happening in your life? Are you omitting the greatest command of God?
In Matthew 28, when Jesus was to go back to heaven after been on earth for three and a half years, preaching the gospel, Christ said to His eleven remaining disciples “go and make disciples of all nations?”
So when was the last time you were on the going? Everybody must be on the going, no one must be left out
This is because the great commission is for all, if you are not on the going, then you are living in disobedience.
You may be asking now; where do I go to win souls for Christ, you can start from your neighbor, your colleague at work, your boss, your family member, just ensure you are on the going.
Though some are assigned to go from nations to nations winning souls, but you can start from your neighbor next door.
When was the last time you won a soul for Christ? If you don’t have an answer for this question, then it means something is wrong, or when was the last time you went out preaching? even if you didn’t win a soul, you have obeyed God’s command.
According to the scripture, it is important to win a soul and then turn them into disciples, that’s what it means for you to bear fruit and ensure the fruits abide.
So we call it operation W.I.F.E which stands for: Win a soul, Invite him to church, Follow him up and Establish him.
Make it a goal to win a soul before the end of this year because if you are not winning souls, according to John 15, you are a barren Christian.
It means you are not a fruitful child of God, spiritually you are barren and your marriage to Christ is unfruitful, then God is not excited about your life
In fact according to John 15, if one is not winning souls, the Lord will prune such person, and if that person still doesn’t bring forth fruit after been pruned, he or she will be cut off.
May you not be cut off in Jesus mighty name.
God is excited about you winning a soul.
Mark 16:17 says : “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover”
Going by this scripture, it is safe to say that the reason why certain signs have not been following you is because you have not been winning souls
The reason why God is not answering our prayers as He should is because we are not going out to win souls into His kingdom
There are some things you actually don’t need to ask God for, it’s just like a paid worker, when a person does his job well, at the end of the month, such person will not need to pray in order to receive salary, no! Because your employer already knows that it’s right to pay salary to every worker
In the same way, the bible said: “seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and every other thing shall be added unto you” this means you don’t even need to pray, as long as you do the will of God, all other things you desire shall be added to you (Matthew 6:33).
Do you know why we pray so much? It is because we are not doing the work of the kingdom
It is because the Father is not excited about our lives, those benefits are to come without praying, that’s why Jesus said we must seek first the Kingdom of God and every other thing we need will be given to us.
The resources to win souls is available, the bible says “all power in heaven and on earth is available if you can go and win souls, God will delegate the power to you and back you up with much power, but much more than that, Christ made the promise that “Lo I am with you always” (Matthew 28:20) this means as you go, God’s power is backing you up but much more than that His presence will be with you as you go.
So all power has been given to you, power to heal, power to prosper, all has been given to you, if you can be committed to winning souls
The important threefold circle are:
Evangelism, follow up and making disciples
Who is to go?
It is the responsibility of every believer
For some it’s to go to the next neighbor, next street, next city, next nation etc
The early church were faithful to fulfil their part of the great commission, Acts 17:6, they turned the World around for Christ, forty years after Jesus ascended to heaven.
No commitment means no blessing
Your commitment to His kingdom will take you to the Covenant and when you enter the Covenant you cannot be put to shame, many are not committed to the desire of God unfortunately.
If we are winning souls and we disciple them, it will bring multiplication to the church, as it is written in scripture- “Be fruitful and multiply” Genesis 1:28
Play your part in the kingdom by winning one soul at least.
There are people around you that you can preach the gospel to, ensure to reach them today with the gospel.
