45. …And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel. 46. And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.” (1 Kings 18: 45, 46).
Our Focal Scripture reveals that Ahab rode (in his chariot) and went to Jezreel; and when Elijah got ready to move, he girded his loins and ran ahead of Ahab into Jezreel. Ahab began the journey before Elijah, but Elijah overtook Ahab; Elijah didn’t have the speed and sophistication of Ahab, he didn’t have a chariot, he moved by foot, but he arrived Jezreel first.
The hand of God was upon Elijah, and he ran ahead of Ahab, and achieved something that his human strength wouldn’t have achieved. God’s hand helped Elijah to accomplish the impossible and the unimaginable; God’s hand helped Elijah to overtake someone who started ahead of him.
Friend, when the hand of God is upon you, you will overtake those who started before you, and you will have results that exceed your efforts. When the hand of God is upon your career, you will rise higher and faster than you ordinarily should; when God’s hand is upon your business, you will have amazing results that can’t be explained; when God’s hand rests on your destiny, you will exceed the expectations of men.
When God’s hand is upon you, your minor efforts will bring major results, and your ordinary efforts will attract extra-ordinary results; when God’s hand is upon you, you may not have what others have, but you will run ahead of them.
Psalm 44 vs. 3 captures it aptly: “For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.”
Pray With Me:
Lord, may Your hand be upon me; I shall overtake those who started before me, in Jesus’ name!.
