Today, I will be speaking on an important topic: The Sword Of The Spirit
The sword of the spirit is the last armor of God and it is the most important, let’s read the Bible:
Ephesians 6:13-17,
“13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God”
I want to emphasize on the last sentence “the sword of the spirit which is the Word of God”
The Word of the Lord in the scriptures was mentioned about four thousand times in the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, the Word of the Lord and the Sword of the Spirit are one but oftentimes, different terminologies are used for them.
This shows that the Word of the Lord is really important, for it to be repeated four thousand times in the sixty six books of the bible.
First, in the scripture we read which is the book of Ephesians 6:13-17 it made us understand that there is a good news and there’s also a bad news, the bad news is that from the day you accepted Jesus into your life, as your personal Lord and Savior, you got enlisted in the army of the end time, which means whether you like it or not you must fight,
Battles become one of the things that characterizes your walk in Christ but the good news is, you are not going to fight this battle by your certificates, or by what you know, or from the degree you obtain from any prestigious war institution in the World, but God has equipped you with the right weapons to fight the battles at the right time
Six weapons were mentioned in this scripture, first the belt of truth, second the breastplate of righteousness that covers some vital organs of the body, thirdly the shoe of the gospel, and then the helmet of salvation, these four weapons according to scriptures, must be worn on your body
but the other ones which are the shield of faith and the sword of the spirit the bible says take!
While you are meant to wear the first four, the other two armours are meant to be taken, held in your hands as you can’t go to battle with your hands empty, how will you fight?
The four armours that were first mentioned are all for defense, and protection, but if you are only to defend yourself from the assault of the enemy you will be stagnated in life.
The position scripture says is: ‘stand therefore’, this talks about the position of defense, if the bible had not included the last two weapons, we could become very good Christians, heavenly useful but earthly useless, therefore God included the last two which are the most important to survive on earth because you are to fight and attack, not just to defend, the best form of battle is to attack and not to defend.
Because if I’m defending arrows coming to me, with my shield and my helmet, to make sure it doesn’t hit my head, I’m standing to do these activities, it means I’m going no where, so in order not to remain stagnated, the bible included the Sword of the spirit with which i am meant to fight or attack the enemy, you must thrust the enemy and clear him out of the way.
Your inability to engage the Sword of the Spirit will cause limitations for you in your journey of life, therefore you must engage the Sword of the Spirit even as you defend yourself.
