Thoughts On 1 Chronicles 4

This chapter talks about the genealogy of Judah, the fourth son of Jacob from his wife Leah.

Interestingly, the story of Jabez is also recorded here. The man who encountered a positive change of story because he called on the God of Israel.

The prayer of Jabez is a popular teaching in the Bible for a positive turnaround testimony.

Let us learn the steps that Jabez took.

STEP1: He observed that things were not working out well for him.

STEP2: He called on the God who created him for a change of story.

STEP3: He was careful with his choice of words. He was not beating about the bush. No murmuring, no complaining.

STEP4: Jabez prayed in verse10: “And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.

There was no delay, God answered Jabez’s prayer immediately!

It is my prayer that God will answer us speedily as we call on him in our individual difficult situations of life as He did for Jabez in Jesus Christ’s Mighty Name ! Amen!

Lessons From The Passage:

1.Talk to God in simple and plain language. Tell Him how you feel and what you want Him to do for you. He knows you more than you know about yourself. No ambiguity. Go straight to the point in prayer and He will answer you.
