Thoughts on First Peter Chapter 1
Theme:
Living in Hope and Holiness through the New Birth
Key Verse
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”
1 Peter 1: 3 (NKJV)
Reflection
This chapter reminds believers that through Christ we are born again into a living hope. Even in trials and suffering, our faith is being refined like gold so that it may bring glory to God.
The Chief Apostle, Peter calls believers to live holy lives because they have been redeemed not with perishable things but with the precious blood of Christ. Therefore, Christians should set their hope fully on God and live in obedience and sincere love for one another.
Lessons:
1. Our salvation is a gift of God’s mercy, not our own effort. ( 1Peter 1:3)
2. Trials refine our faith and strengthen our trust in God.( 1Pet.1:4)
3. Believers are called to holiness in every aspect of life.(1Pet.1: 6-7)
4. Christ’s sacrifice is priceless, showing the depth of our redemption. ( 1Pet.1:15-17)
5. Sincere love for others is evidence of the new life in Christ.(1Pet.1 : 22)
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for the living hope we have through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Strengthen our faith in times of trials and help us to live holy and obedient lives. Purify our hearts so that we may love one another sincerely. May our lives bring glory and honor to You always. In Jesus’ name,
Lastly, may God reveal to our hearts the dept of what Jesus did for us on the cross !
God bless you all
Thoughts On 1peter Chapter 2
Theme
Identity In Christ Revealed Through Godly Living
Main Verse
1 Peter 2:9:9
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.
Supporting Verses
Isaiah 60:1
Arise and shine, for your light has come….
Ephesians 2:10
… Created for good works. ..
Matthew 5:16
Let your light shine before men…
Romans 12:1
Present your body as a living sacrifice…
Believers are called to know who they are in CHRIST and let that identity shape their conduct, so their lives declare GOD’’s glory.
The chapter tells us how to achieve this.
1. Crave Spiritual Growth by putting away
– malice
– deceit
– hypocrisy
– envy
– evil speaking
2. Crave the pure milk of the Word to grow strong in CHRIST. Spiritual maturity is built on feeding your soul on GOD’’s truth.
3. Built on CHRIST, the Living Stone (vv4–8)
CHRIST is the cornerstone that was rejected by men but chosen by GOD. We are saved to be like CHRIST too, to become living stones, aligned with Him.
Rejecting HIM leads to stumbling; embracing HIM anchors your life.
4. Know Your Identity
Know for sure what you are saved to become:
– a chosen generation
– a royal priesthood
– a holy nation
– God’s special possession
5. Purpose: There is a purpose attached to who we become when we get saved. The sole purpose is to show forth GOD’’s praises in our character and way of life.
6. Live Honourably in a Hostile World (vv11–17)
Paul makes it clear that we are strangers and pilgrims here on earth. Earth is no comfort or resting or enjoyment zone. We are to live with:
– Integrity
– respect for authority
– love for all
– endurance in trials
These are strange to the world. Our lives must shine as evidence of our walk in the LORD. You cannot light a lamp and hide it.
7. Follow CHRIST ’s Example in Suffering (vv18–25)
JESUS suffered unjustly but entrusted HIMSELF to GOD. It is through HIS sacrifice that we get restored and guided by the Good Shepherd.
Takeaway
1. Spiritual identity is inseparable from conduct.
2. Grow in GOD’’s Word, live honourably, endure trials, and let your life declare GOD’’s praises.
3. Our witness in the world is a reflection of our walk in CHRIST
Prayer Points
1. LORD, help me live fully in my identity as Your chosen and holy child.
2. Give me courage to shine my light in a dark world.
3. Strengthen me to live honourably, even under trials.
4. Let my life declare Your praises in every sphere I move
In the mighty name of JESUS, Amen.

Reflections On First Peter Chapter Four
Today, we study the Book of First Peter Chapter Four where believers were admonished to “BE SOBER & WATCH UNTO PRAYER”
Reflections
“That God May Be Glorified”
Key Scripture
1 Peter 4:11
“THAT IN ALL THINGS, GOD MAY BE GLORIFIED THROUGH JESUS CHRIST, TO WHOM BELONG THE GLORY AND THE DOMINION FOREVER AND EVER”
The Bible has warned that in the last days, perilous times will come (2 Timothy 3:1).
Apostle Peter also echoed the Urgency of the times (1 Peter 4:7)
Recommendations
In view of the Urgency and Imminence of the “END OF THE WORLD”, the Apostle offered TWO important recommendations:
“BE SOBER”
This implies spiritual alertness and seriousness.
“Be Disciplined”
The Apostle also recommended ro believers to be “DISCIPLINED IN YOUR PRAYERS”
Glory To God
The Apostle gave TWO PIVOTAL SUBMISSIONS:
1. The grace to function as believers is supplied by Jesus Christ.
2. The END GAME of our Christian Life is that “GOD MAY HAVE THE GLORY”
The Things We Do
As we serve the Lord, It is critical that ALL THAT WE DO ARE FOR HIS GLORY
Therefore, let us continue to do the following to the glory of God:
1. Preaching of the Word
2. Teaching
3. Giving
4. Loving
5. Fellowshipping
6. Praying
7. Worshipping
Conclusion
The Scriptures testified that ” FROM HIM (ALL THINGS ORIGINATE) AND THROUGH HIM (ALL THINGS LIVE AND EXIST) AND TO HIM ARE ALL THINGS (DIRECTED).
TO HIM BE GLORY AND HONOUR FOREVER. AMEN. (Rom.11:36)
Prayer
Father, we pray that our lives and lifestyle will ALWAYS bring GLORY & HONOUR to Your Holy Name. Amen.
Thoughts on 1Peter 5
Key Scripture
1 Peter 5:10 KJV
But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you
1 Peter 5:10 NLT
In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation
In the final chapter of his first epistle, Peter, who identified himself as a fellow elder, writes to the elders to show them that authority is based on service, in the six commands highlighted below. These Elders were church officers who provided supervision, protection, discipline, instruction, and direction to other believers. In today’s parlance they include overseers, pastors, bishops, etc.
COMMANDS TO THE ELDERS vs 2-3
1. Feed, do not fleece the flock of God.
2. Take oversight of the flock of God
3. Serve God and His flock willingly
4. Serve readily, not for personal gain.
5. Do not be Lord’s over God’s heritage
6. Be examples to the flock.
In general, the entire body of Christ can benefit from Peter’s instructions in verses 5-9 as we continue in this journey of faith;
COMMANDS TO ALL CHRISTIANS vs 5-9
1. Let the younger submit to the elder
2. All submit to one another.
3. Be clothed with humility.
4. Humble yourselves how God.
5. Cast all your cares upon God.
6. Be sober.
7. Be vigilant (be watchful, never be off your guard)
8. Resist Satan in the faith.
The Great Shepherd is Jesus Christ. Therefore no better motivation for selfless service and for keeping the faith in the face of suffering and temptation than what is written in verse 4 of our reading….And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
When going through situations, we feel as though our pain will never end. But today, we can hold on to a broader perspective that whatever it is we are going through last “only a while”. The God of all grace who cares for us will perfect, strengthen, stablish and settle us in Jesus name. Amen 🙏
