God, our Restorer
Hosea 3:1
Then the Lord said to me, “Go and love your wife again, even though she commits adultery with another lover. This will illustrate that the Lord still loves Israel, even though the people have turned to other gods and love to worship them”
In the few verses that make up today’s reading, we again come to terms with the unwavering love of God for His own. You and I are privileged to be in this category (Hosea 2:23, Jn 1:12).
Jesus Christ purchased our redemption with His blood. Being conscious of this then, our primary responsibility should be to do all to keep our relationship with Him.
Yes, there are many fiery darts the devil throws at us, but as we work out our salvation, we must resolve that empowered by His grace, we will Stand fast in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, not being entangled again with any yoke of bondage (Gal 5:1)
We are reminded through the instructions God gave Hosea concerning his adulterous wife that God will never abandon His people.
Even when we stutter or falter in our faith, like Peter when he denied Jesus, the promise of God’s restoration gives us hope that our future is not lost.
At that point, His expectation for us is to humbly reconcile ourselves to Him through an acknowledgement and admittance of our wrong doing, genuinely repenting, and determining by the help of the Holy Spirit to continue in God’s word as the days go by.
