Comment On Luke 17

Faith and Forgiveness

Jesus emphasizes the importance of forgiveness, even when it seems difficult. In Luke 17:3-4, He instructs, If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. Even if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times returns to say, ‘I repent,’ you must forgive him. This highlights the boundless nature of Christian forgiveness.

The Power of Faith

In response to the apostles’ request to increase their faith, Jesus explains in Luke 17:6, If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you. This teaches us that even a small amount of genuine faith can accomplish great things.

Humility in Service

Jesus uses the parable of the unworthy servants in Luke 17:7-10 to remind us that our service to God is our duty, not something for which we should expect special praise. We are to serve with humility, recognizing that we are merely doing what is required of us.

The Coming of the Kingdom

In Luke 17:20-21, Jesus tells the Pharisees, The kingdom of God is not coming with signs to be observed, nor will people say, ‘Look, here it is,’ or ‘There it is.’ For you see, the kingdom of God is in your midst. This teaches us that God’s kingdom is a present reality, not just a future hope.

The Parable of the Persistent Widow (Luke 18:1-8)

Jesus emphasizes the importance of persistent prayer, illustrating that God values our perseverance and faith.

The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector (Luke 18:9-14)

Jesus Blesses the Children (Luke 18:15-17)

Jesus welcomes children, stating, Truly I tell you, anyone who does not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.

This teaches us about the necessity of childlike faith and trust in God.

The Rich Young Ruler (Luke 18:18-30)

The rich young ruler’s encounter with Jesus reveals the challenge of wealth and the call to prioritize eternal treasures over earthly possessions.

Jesus teaches that what is impossible with man is possible with God, emphasizing reliance on divine power.

Thoughts on Luke 19

Zacchaeus’ Curiosity and Determination

So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree to see Him, since Jesus was about to pass that way (Luke 19:4). Zacchaeus’ actions demonstrate a deep desire to see Jesus, reminding us of the importance of seeking Christ with determination.

Jesus’ Invitation

When Jesus came to that place, He looked up and said, ‘Zacchaeus, hurry down, for I must stay at your house today’ (Luke 19:5). Jesus’ willingness to engage with Zacchaeus shows His mission to reach out to the marginalized and despised.

Repentance and transformation

But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, ‘Look, Lord! Half of my possessions I give to the poor, and if I have cheated anyone, I will repay it fourfold’ (Luke 19:8). Zacchaeus’ response to Jesus’ presence is a powerful example of genuine repentance and transformation.

The Mission of Jesus

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost (Luke 19:10). This verse encapsulates the heart of Jesus’ mission and serves as a reminder of our calling to share the Gospel.

Lessons

Seek Jesus actively

Like Zacchaeus, we should be willing to go out of our way to seek Jesus, even if it means stepping out of our comfort zones.

Embrace the outcasts

Follow Jesus’ example by reaching out to those who are marginalized or looked down upon in society.

Live a life of repentance

Regularly examine your life for areas that need change and be willing to make amends where necessary.

Share the Gospel

Be intentional about sharing the message of salvation with those around you, remembering that Jesus came to seek and save the lost.

Prayer

As i reflect on Luke 19, may i be inspired to live out my faith with the same zeal and compassion that Jesus demonstrated, always remembering His mission to seek and save the lost in Jesus name AMEN.

Comments On Luke 20

Theme:

Grace When Resisted Becomes Judgement; Grace Embraced Becomes Transformation

Main Verse

Luke 20:17

“The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone.”

Luke 20 is continues as a flow from Luke 19, pointing out 5 salient issues.

1. Teaching vs. Fault-Finding (vv. 1–8): While JESUS was teaching truth that could save them, the leaders only looked for faults. Religion without revelation resists authority even when Truth is standing right there.

2. Authority Questioned (vv. 2–8): They asked by whose authority HE acted. This was a Man doing good, healing, teaching, restoring—but blindness made them miss the Source. Like Luke 19:44, they did not know the time of their visitation.

3. The Wicked Vinedressers (vv. 9–19):

A sharp parable exposing ungratefulness and selfish greed. Yet instrad of allowing the story to chsnge them, they even got more offended. GOD gave them the vineyard, sent prophets, and finally HIS Son—but they rejected accountability at all cost.

The consequence? GOD transfers blessings to others who will bear fruit. Grace taken for granted leads to loss.

4. Traps that Released Truth (vv. 20–40): They tried to corner Him with questions. However, each trap became an opportunity for JESUS to unveil divine wisdom. Lesson: when the enemy schemes, God can turn it into revelation if we stay rooted in Him.

5. Warning Against Hypocrisy (vv. 41–47): Long robes, love of honor, and outward show—all hiding hearts full of exploitation and pride. *God sees beyond appearances. Religious façade without obedience leads to judgment.

Takeaway

When GOD visits us with truth, correction, or opportunity, may we not harden our hearts. To reject HIS word is to reject HIM; to receive it is to enter fruitfulness and transformation.

Every word of GOD is a visitation that we must receive, not argue or ignore it

GOD’s grace cannot be abused indefinitely. Privilege can be taken and given to others, just like it happened between King Saul and King David

Prayer Point:

LORD, open my eyes to recognize Your visitation. Deliver me from resisting Your authority or treating Your grace casually. Help me not just to hear, but to respond with obedience and humility

Comments On Luke 22

Today, we study the Book of Luke chapter Twenty Two, where Jesus was betrayed, arrested, and tried on false allegations of blasphemy.

Reflection

“Jesus-The Son of God”

Key Scripture

“Then they all said, “Are you the the Son of God?” So He said to them, ” You rightly say that I am.” (Lk. 22:70)

Evidence Of Scriptures

Scriptures support the TRUTH that Jesus is the Son of God:

“The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God

(Luke 1:35)

Scriptures also recorded :”This is my beloved Son”

(Matthew 3:17)

Hence, in Luke 22:70,

the Lord Jesus did not dispute the TRUTH of His status as the SON OF GOD.

Son of God: Implications

Equality With God?

Jesus declared in John 5:17 that “My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.”

Therefore, the Jews sought the more to kill him because he not only had broken the sabbath but also said that God was his father, making himself equal with God.

Indeed, Jesusbis 100% Man & 100% God!

(John 5:17-19)

The Word Was God!

According to the Gospel of Saint John, “In the beginning, was the Word, the Word was with God and the Word was God.”

The Son of God is the same as His Father.!

(John 1:1).

The Word Made Flesh

It is profound and eternally significant that the Son of God became flesh.

(John 1:14)

He took the form of man and died on the cross for our REDEMPTION!

Sons Of God!

It is written that “As many as received

Him, to them, He gave Power to become the sons of God”

(John 1:12)

This TRUTH is validated by Galatians in 3:25-26.

Yes, the Gentiles became sons of God by faith.

Conclusion

Jesus is the Son of God, and by His sacrifice, we are now sons of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

What a privilege!

Prayer (Rom. 8:19)

Father, we thank you for the privilege of being sons of God.

We receive the mind of Christ, the capacity for Divine Solutions, and Heavenly Innovations as we manifest the glory of God. Amen.

Comments on Luke 23

Luke 23:23-24 NKJV

But they were insistent, demanding with loud voices that He be crucified. And the voices of these men and of the chief priests prevailed. So Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they requested

Matthew 7:7 NLT

“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you’

James 4:2 NKJV

“You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask”

According to Scripture, ASKING had been God’s approach in making our requests known to Him. It is therefore presumptuous to think that because God is All-Knowing and All-Powerful, He will override this. For whatever thing we desire, the All-Knowing God requires that we ASK Him (Mark 11:24)

Similarly, the verse from James referenced above alludes to the results when we fail to ask.(All these were dealt with extensively in our series of Bible Studies on PRAYER).

The implication of this then is to ask, not once or twice, or give up outrightly, but to keep asking until our wilderness becomes a fruitful field and the fruitful field is counted as a forest (Is 32:15).

In order words, God requires us to INSIST (persist) on what we are praying for until we see the manifestation thereof.

As disciples of Jesus Christ, it must not be lost on us that we have a relentless enemy, the devil, who does not give up. His ministry is to lay accusations against us night and day before God, all in a bid to sabotage us of our God- ordained destinies.

He also has willing tools in human beings who are ready to go any length, pay any price just to prevent from reaching our hands, the manifold blessing that God through Christ, has made available to us in heavenly places. But in the name of Jesus, the enemy will not prevail against us nor outwit us. Amen 🙏

In our reading today, we saw the determination of the chief priests, the rulers, and the people as they insisted on the one demand they sought from Pilate – To see Christ crucified.

Even though Pilate tried three times to release Jesus, having found no evidence for their accusation against Him, it was futile. Their voices PREVAILED as they kept on INSISTING on their demand.

As followers of Christ, necessity is placed on us because of what Christ has accomplished for us to relentlessly pursue our cause in life and win through prevailing prayers.

Romans 3:3 says…For what if some did not believe? Will their unbelief make the faithfulness of God without effect?

It is possible that some of us have not been faithful in the place of prayer, perhaps because we are overwhelmed or do not have enough confidence in our individual prayers.

Whatever is the reason is, it cannot nullify the faithfulness of God in answering prayers when we collectively call upon Him.

With this in mind, we make our requests known to God in this season concerning the Kaduna For Christ Crusade, insisting on our one demand – to see Jesus Revealed, Jesus Believed, and Jesus Glorified in Kaduna state and its environs.

With unity of purpose, let’s embark on this important task and be confident that God is able to supply the needed grace to accomplish the good work (2 Corin 9:8).

His Will that all men should be saved will be done through LFF. Therefore, let’s make up our minds to participate in the daily prayers.

Our collective prayers will PREVAIL over all the works of the kingdom of darkness, and our expectations will not be cut short in Jesus’ name. Amen 🙏

Comments On Luke 24

The Empty Tomb (Luke 24:1-12)

The women who visited the tomb found it empty, and two angels proclaimed, He is not here; He has risen! (Luke 24:6). This pivotal moment confirms the fulfillment of Jesus’ prophecy about His resurrection.

The Road to Emmaus (Luke 24:13-35)

Jesus appears to two disciples on the road to Emmaus, but they do not recognize Him until He breaks bread with them. This encounter emphasizes the importance of spiritual insight and the breaking of bread as a means of revelation.

Jesus Appears to His Disciples (Luke 24:36-49)

Jesus appears to His disciples, offering them peace and proving His physical resurrection by showing His wounds and eating with them. He opens their minds to understand the Scriptures, highlighting the necessity of His suffering and resurrection.

The Ascension (Luke 24:50-53)

Jesus leads His disciples to Bethany, blesses them, and ascends into heaven. This event marks the completion of His earthly ministry and the beginning of the disciples’ mission to spread the Gospel.

Lessons

Embrace the Resurrection

Just as the women and disciples were transformed by the news of the resurrection, we too should let the reality of the risen Christ transform our lives and fill us with hope.

Seek Spiritual Insight

Like the disciples on the road to Emmaus, we should seek to recognize Jesus in our daily lives, especially through Scripture and communion.

Be Witnesses

Jesus commissioned His disciples to be witnesses of His resurrection. We are called to share the Gospel and the hope of the resurrection with others.

Live with Expectation

The ascension reminds us that Jesus will return. We should live with the expectation of His return, remaining faithful and diligent in our walk with Him

Prayer

I thank God for the victory over sin and death through Jesus’ resurrection, i pray for the Holy Spirit to open our eyes to recognize Jesus in my life and understand His Word. I ask for courage and opportunities to share the message of the resurrection with others and for strength to live faithfully as i await Christ’s return, keeping my focus on His promises in Jesus name, AMEN.
