Thoughts On Psalm 19
Theme: The Beauty and the Glory of the Word of God!
This chapter talks about heavens showcasing God’s glory. This is buttressed in Revelation chapter 21:2 describing the beauty of heaven as a bride adorned for her husband! Another reason heaven declares the glory of God is that there is no sin and no sinner in heaven. Every creature of God in heaven sings His praise and gives him glory!
This is quite unlike the earth where there is a combination of good and evil ; the righteous and the unrighteous, those who serve God and those who serve Him not.
Verse 2 says, “Day unto day uttereth speech and night unto night showeth knowledge.”
Verse 3 says, “There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard.”
This means that every day, God speaks to us through all His creation and in the night He speaks to us the same even through dreams and His night creatures. Just like there are some dreams you have and you don’t need any interpreter to tell you the meaning. You just understand it; that is why it is said that their voice is heard in every language. So shall the knowledge of the word of God be in these last days. Everyone will know the truth and it will be left for them to decide who they will follow.
Verse 7 says, “The law of THE LORD is perfect, converting the soul, the testimony of the LORD is sure making wise the simple.”
This means that the word of God is the tool for soul winning. The testimony of God’s people makes the hearers wise. When we testify of God’s goodness we are imparting the knowledge of the word of God to the ignorants. It is as well as preaching the gospel.
The Psalmist goes on and on to speak about the beauty and the glory of the word of God as an instrument that rejoices the heart. It also enlightens the eyes as the Psalmist says in Psalm 119:105, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.”
The word of God is to be desired more than much fine gold! It is sweeter than the honey and the honeycomb!
God’s servant is warned by it and when keeping it, there’s a great reward!
The word of God is all that we need to survive in this world of sin!
LESSONS
1.God can use any of His creature to speak to us, let us be attentive!
2.God created the heavens and the earth for His glory! Let us give Him all the glory!
Prayer
Thank You Father, for Your Word that cannot change forever!
Father, help us to always listen to You and help us to know when You are speaking to us in Jesus Christ’s Mighty Name!
Father, help us to desire Your word more than any other thing in Jesus Christ’s Mighty Name! Amen!
