Health is a state of being that allows an individual to live a fulfilling and productive life. In general, health refers to the physical, psychological, social and environmental conditions that allow people to lead a full and healthy life.
Physical health refers to the state of the body and its organs. It includes factors such as having enough food, water and shelter, as well as being free from diseases and injuries. Psychological health refers to the state of an individual’s emotions, thoughts, and behaviour.
Now On child health, The concept of child health is simply to ensure that children grow into healthy adults. Child health includes preventing diseases and injuries, promoting physical and mental development, and providing support and care during illnesses.
Child health is a global issue. Every country has different priorities and needs when it comes to child health. However, all countries share the same goal of ensuring that children grow into healthy adults.
There are many ways to achieve this goal. In some countries, the government focuses on providing healthcare for all children. In other countries, the focus is on preventing child health problems from happening in the first place.
Regardless of the country’s approach, every effort is geared towards ensuring that children grow healthily
There are many common diseases children have. Some of the common health issues to watch out for in children are:
Asthma, Bronchitis, Conjunctivitis, Fever
1. Asthma
This is a chronic respiratory illness that affects the lungs. It is a condition that is caused by an allergic reaction to a particular substance, such as pollen, dust, pet dander, or other environmental allergens. Asthma can lead to difficulty breathing and can be life-threatening in some cases.
In children, asthma is most commonly caused by environmental allergies, with nearly half of all cases occurring in children under the age of six. In addition, about 10 percent of children with asthma also have a food allergy. Other causes of asthma in children include respiratory infections, such as the common cold, and allergic rhinitis, a condition that causes the nose
Cure:
Asthma can be treated with medications and/or breathing exercises, but the best way to cure it is usually through a combination of treatments.
To treat asthma in children, it is important to identify the cause of the asthma. If the asthma is caused by environmental factors, the child will need to take steps to eliminate the trigger. If the asthma is caused by a genetic factor, the child will need to take steps to reduce their risk of developing asthma.
Bronchitis
Bronchitis is a common but serious cold that can affect any age group. The most common symptoms are coughing, chest congestion, and fever. Bronchitis is caused by a virus, and it can last from a few days to several weeks. If left untreated, bronchitis can lead to pneumonia, which can be fatal.
Cure: Bronchitis is treated with antibiotics, rest, and fluids.
Conjunctivitis
Conjunctivitis otherwise known as red eye is another common disease amongst children, it can be as a result of an highly contagious bacteria or virus.
A child can be infected with conjunctivitis if he or she comes in direct contact with the fluid from the eyes or nose of another person who is infected. This contact can happen through sneezing, coughing or mere touch.
Cure: in most cases, conjunctivitis does not need treatment, after some days, it will eye redness will stop by itself, however, you can apply eye drops to your baby’s eyes to keep it wet and to probably stop it from itching.
Fever:
Fever happens in a child when his or her temperature increases more than the normal body temperature. The normal body temperature for children is 37°C, so when your child’s temperature is over 38°C, then it is considered a fever.
Cure:
For children above 6 months, Fever sometimes can go on its own after 3 days, but if exceeds 3 days, then you may need to consult your doctor.
Also, for children within the ages 3 to 6months, fever can be quite dangerous, and it’s important that parents in this case, get medical attention for the child immediately to avoid complications.
