DON’T GIVE UP! BY PASTOR DR. TUNDE ODE

Table of Contents

And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times. 44. And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea…” (1 Kings 18: 43, 44).

When Elijah sent his servant to go and check if the clouds had gathered, the servant checked and saw nothing. Elijah instructed the servant to check seven more times. Elijah got bad news at the first instance, his first prayer brought no results, but he pressed on and wasn’t prepared to give up.

Elijah’s expectations were intact even when results weren’t forthcoming. He had reasons to give up or feel discouraged, but he refused to give up or be discouraged. The absence of results didn’t stop Elijah or reduce his faith and expectations.

Friend, you may not have the results you desire, but God says, don’t give up. Your prayers may not have been answered, your hard work may not have been rewarded, your efforts may not have yielded much progress, things may not have worked as planned, but God says, don’t give up.

Don’t give up on your dreams, visions and aspirations; don’t give up on your faith in God. Don’t give up on the future you desire to make happen.

Some dreams may not have been fulfilled because we gave up too early; some prayers may be unanswered because we were too weak/impatient to push in prayers; some favours, breakthroughs, achievements, etc may be elusive because we are unwilling to press on and not give up.

Elijah didn’t give up, his expectations were intact, and God didn’t disappoint him. Keep your hope and faith alive, be resilient, dogged and determined; maintain your expectations no matter how impossible they seem; if God didn’t disappoint Elijah, He won’t disappoint you.

Pray With Me:

Lord, I won’t give up; my expectations are intact, in Jesus’ name!
