Insights from Mathew 21

13….My house shall be called a house of prayer,’but you make it a den of robbers.” 14 And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple, and he healed them.

The art of buying and selling inside the church is like smoke in the eyes to JESUS. Most come to church for selfish reasons. They want GOD to bless them, yet are not willing to honour HIM with their tithes, offerings and services.

HE came to save and heal. In the temple, HE is looking out for those who sincerely approach the altar for salvation and healing, for a touch from HIM. The LORD sees beyond the facade to see what’s in the heart of men and what does HE find?

Most of us do not come to church with a hunger and expectancy to be ministered to by the word. We come to church with hearts of stone, thorns, wayside which make the precious word that GOD has so lovingly prepared for us, unfruitful to us.

Anytime we come to church and we fail to receive the rhema in the word, we have simply come to “buy and sell”. And buying and seling in this contest attracts nothing but GOD’s wrath as Ecl5:1 says it all. “Guard your steps when you go to the house of GOD. To draw near to listen is better than to offer the sacrifice of fools, for they do not know that they are doing evil.
May the LORD help us.

2…Go into the village in front of you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Untie them and bring them to me. 3 If anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord needs them,’and he will send them at once.

The LORD is ever mindful of our situation, even we we are not yet aware of it.
Sometimes we need the quiet voice of the HOLY SPIRIT to whisper to us that the LORD needs us. That is fulfilling purpose. Whatever we find ourselves doing which is outside the will of GOD for our lives will not bring about fulfilment, rather it will give us a certain restlessness of being busy but not knowing that we are going around in circles and are bound.

We need to be loosed( untied) in order to be free for the LORD’s use. Sometimes, we get entangled with matters that should not be our business. And the LORD knows and seeks to set us free.

Sometimes, the HOLY SPIRIT speaks through a message, a man of GOD. Just like it happened to Elisha. Though he was in a lucrative enterprise, yet it was not until he was “untied” from that business and obeyed GOD that he achieved real fulfilment.

And as we obey, all power hitherto holding us back will give way.
It is one thing to hear and another thing to understand what to do.
May the LORD help us mightily to be free to follow HIM.
