INSIGHTS FROM EXODUS 19

A PECULIAR TREASURE

5Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: 6and ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation

This chapter is a promise fulfilled.

The LORD had told Moses at the burning bush that when he brings out the children of Israel, he should bring them HERE at this mountain to worship HIM.

GOD longs for a deeper and deeper relationship with us. HE begins by accepting us the way we are, but expects that as we begin to grow in relationship, we also become more consecrated and focused.

And this is what we see here in Exodus 19.

1st, HE delivered the children of Israel through the blood of the Passover

2ndly, he took care of their strong enemies

3rdly, he took care of their provisions

4thly, he took care of their obstacles

These are all levels in their relationship.

All these while, GOD has been dealing with them through Moses.

All they knew about GOD was what Moses told them about HIM, though they could see the wonders all around them.

Now, GOD was about to bring them into a deeper, more intimate relationship, a different level of encounter with HIM that would require a different and a higher level of consecration, a deeper level of preparedness. GOD wanted them to see the GOD they have only been hearing with their ears but they needed to be prepared to behold HIS glory, just the same way HE made Moses pull off his shoes, unfortunately HIS glory frightened them more than attracted them to HIM. But it is in this place of HIS glory that we receive powere and revelation to become who HE created us to be.

GOD has always longed for that level of relationship because. HE created us to worship HIM.

In our pursuit of GOD, our relationship moves from one level to a higher one. If we really hunger to behold HIS glory, just as the children of Israel did, we too will be expected to prepare ourselves as a living sanctuary, holy and true. That is the only state the LORD can manifest HIS glory unto us and live in us as captured in Ps24:3

3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? Or who shall stand in HIS holy place?

4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart;

Who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.

5 He shall receive the blessing from the LORD,

And righteousness from the GOD of his salvation.

6. This is the generation of them that seek HIM,

That seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah

In the new testament, Apostle Peter explained exactly how precious we are to GOD and the type of relationship HE wants us to have with HIM.

9But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of HIM who hath called you out of darkness into HIS marvellous light: 10which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of GOD:

GOD longs to draw us close to HIM so that HE can reveal things to us but HE can never reveal HIMSELF to an unconsecrated and unsanctified Christian.

May the LORD grant us the discipline to seek to be holy so that we can behold HIS glory and be able to become what HE created to be.
