Thoughts On Ephesians 1

Theme:

The riches of GOD’s love and the exceeding greatness of HIS power revealed in CHRIST

Main Verse:

Ephesians 1:19

“And what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty strength…”

Supporting Verses:

Isaiah 40:28

“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting GOD… His understanding is unsearchable.”

Colossians 2:12

“…buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised with Him through your faith in the working of GOD …”

1 Cor 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from GOD, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by GOD.”

In this chapter, Paul tries to use human language to communicate the love, GOD has for us and what that love does for us.

Because of this love, we have an identity and blessings in CHRIST, we are chosen, redeemed, and sealed by the HOLY SPIRIT. All and every blessing flows from GOD’s love, not our effort.

The highlight is verses 17–19: through wisdom and revelation, the Spirit opens our eyes to see the “exceeding greatness” of GOD’s power.

We must understand this perfectly. Creation shows GOD’s power, but Resurrection reveals GOD’s exceeding power. How? Because resurrection power:

– Reverses what is final – death

– Overrules what is irreversible – death

– Defeats what no human effort can fix – death

That is the benchmark of “exceeding.”The power that conquered death by raising CHRIST from the dead, a power beyond human comprehension yet available to all who believe.

This power of GOD is not just great; it is greatness that exceeds every measurable category and is available for us.

How much is “exceeding”?

It is more than the mind can imagine, more than theology can define and more than experience can exhaust.

That’s why Paul does not ask that we receive more power, rather he prays that our eyes be opened to know the power already at work.

The lesson is simple but profound: GOD’s love for us precedes our existence. In it are blessings and power which are not theoretical, but are real, operative, and exceeding. However to experience them, we must have spiritually enlightened eyes, a receptive heart, and faith to believe what GOD has already made available. That should form our main prayer point.

This is why verse 19 comes after verse 17–18:

– Spirit of wisdom

– Revelation

– Enlightened eyes

Without illumination, exceeding power remains inaccessible, not because GOD withholds it, but because the human vessel cannot yet carry the knowledge of it.

Power that we cannot comprehend, we cannot consciously cooperate with.

Paul tells us that the things are already given, but we need the Spirit so we can know. Knowing precedes access and experience

So the problem is not a lack of provision, but a lack of revelation because what grace has given freely, revelation helps us access intelligently.

Lesson:

GOD’s love and power are limitless, but the depth we experience depends on our understanding, faith, and yielding. Believers are invited to live in awareness of their position in CHRIST and access His exceeding power daily. It is not about striving. It is about seeing, believing, and yielding.

What GOD revealed in Ephesians 1, HE has always declared, but only the enlightened truly see and access.

Prayer Point:

Father, open the eyes of my heart to comprehend the exceeding greatness of Your power. Help me to live in the fullness of the blessings You have given in CHRIST, and operate daily by Your might, not my strength in the mighty name of JESUS, Amen.

Thoughts On Ephesians 2.

Theme: Salvation by God’s Unmerited Grace Through Faith in Jesus Christ.

This chapter teaches that people are spiritually dead in sin but made alive by God’s grace through faith in Christ not by works becoming His masterpiece created for good deeds and united into one spiritual body a holy temple, breaking down barriers between Jews and Gentiles.

Reflections On Ephesians 3

Today, we study the Epistle of Paul to Ephesians, Chapter Three where the mystery of salvation for Gentiles was recorded.

Reflections

The Mystery Of Salvation For Gentiles

Key Scriptures:

Ephesians 3:8

“And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying,”In you all the nations shall be blessed” (Eph 3:8)

Scripture foretold through Prophet Isaiah that “I will also give You as a light to the Gentiles, that You should be My salvation to the ends of the earth” (Is 49:6)

A Special Treasure

Israel/Jewish nation is special to Jehovah, described as “a holy people to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth” (Deuternomy 7:6)

What Is A Gentile?

The term Gentile describes any and every person of non- Jewish heritage.

JESUS IS LORD OF ALL

Almighty God in His magnanimity and sovereign capacity by a master stroke sent Peter to preach THE GOSPEL to Cornelius:

“The Message God sent to Israel, telling the good news of Peace through Jesus Christ, WHO IS LORD OF ALL” (Acts 10:36)

JESUS IS THE CHRIST

JESUS DIED

JESUS RESURRECTED

(Acts 10: 34-40)

Whosoever believes is saved!

Implications

Salvation for Gentiles Imply the following:

1. All Nations can be saved including Israel

2. WE ARE NOW FELLOW HEIRS

3. A NEW BREED IS BORN – THE CHURCH

4. WE ARE NOW FELLOW CITIZENS

The Church Is Born

There are now THREE DISTINCT NATIONS:

1. The Jews

2. The Gentiles

3. The Church (Either Jew or Gentile that believes in Jesus by Faith)

Jesus is the Head of the Body, the Church

(Colossians 1:18)

Fellow Heir

By grace, the Gentiles were permitted to be “FELLOW HEIRS OF THE SAME BODY, AND PARTAKERS OF HIS PROMISE IN CHRIST THROUGH THE GOSPEL” (Ephesians 3:6)

Salvation does not make Gentiles part of the unique Jewish nation; but it makes them part of God’s family through adoption, enabling them to reap spiritual blessings through the covenants God made with Israel.

Now In Christ

Because of Jesus, God saves the uncircumcised (The Gentile) by faith, the same way, He saves the Jew!

Indeed, Jesus has broken down the “middle wall of partition between the Jews & the Gentiles. (Ephesians 2:13-14)

Fellow Citizens

The grace of God now guarantees that The Gentiles are “NO LONGER STRANGERS AND FOREIGNERS BUT FELLOW CITIZENS WITH THE SAINTS, AND OF THE HOUSEHOLD OF GOD” (Ephesians 2:19)

What a privilege!

Prayers

Father, we thank you for the privilege of salvation for the Gentiles.

We pray for the capacity to bring glory Your Kingdom in the Mighty Name of Jesus. AMEN.
