This day I will be speaking on the topic: your mess to a message, our bible reading is from Ruth 2:9-13, this message is in honor of our mothers
The old testament is a descriptive letter, while the new testament is a definitive letter, by definitive, I mean it is explicit, authoritative and direct in nature but the old testament is usually a compilation of events
Often time when you are preaching from the old testament it’s like you are telling a story,
As a matter of fact you are able to drive home the message properly when you tell it like a story
I will be delivering the message of Sis. Ruth in the bible to us in a story
The book of Ruth is a love story of a family that left their home town Bethlehem, Bethlehem is called the house of bread) and they traveled to sojourn in a foreign land called Moab, this is simply because there was famine in the land and in order to have a better life, they had to leave Bethlehem, the house of bread and to relocate to Moab just like we have lots of people leaving the country to live a better life outside of the country
The whole experience was savoury, only two women in the bible had the privilege of the bible been recorded in their names, first Esther, then Ruth, Ruth was a Moabite, and the land of Moab was a land that was founded on Incest,
incest is where there is a sexual relationship between two closely related people,
And I wonder that despite the ugly situation and event that brought about the existence of Moab and Ruth herself, God was inclined on honoring Ruth by allowing her to have a record in the bible
Ruth is not only recorded in the bible but the account of Ruth, by the grace of God, is a picture of grace, a picture of mercy, favor, a picture of how the down trodden can become honorable, because the honor that Ruth enjoyed was that she was listed in the genealogy of Jesus Christ
God did not factor women like Sarah, Deborah, Rebecca, Leah or even Abigail, to be part of the genealogy of Jesus Christ but surprisingly the women that God put together to form the lineage of the birth of the messiah, were women like Tamar, Rehab
Tamar is the daughter in-law to Judah, Judah is the first son of Jacob, Tamar had no child for her husband, when her husband died, the law in Israel permits that there should be a surrogacy of the younger if the older had no child with the wife,
So since the elder brother had no child with Tamar when he died, his younger brother Onan took the wife and still died without a child, even though it was not Tamar’s fault, and because her Father in law put her away, Tamar was not happy with that, she was hoping that the third child of Judah would be able to make her a mother
But of course no Father would want to give his third son to a woman whom two men were already dead in her chamber
In that bitterness and because there was nobody that was going to get married to her, Tamar positioned herself one day, at a corner where her Father in law was going to see her and she covered her face, somehow Judah thought Tamar was a prostitute and he gave her his sceptre and his staff, i.e he slept with her on credit
In our days, we can replicate the sceptre and staff to be his credit card, that relationship however produced a set of twins, Tamar gave birth to Perez and Zerar, this is the nature of the woman whom God decided to make the great grandmother of the Messiah
If it was in our days, I don’t know how we will address that situation as a church whether the person will be qualified to bring up such a holy child to the World
Rehab was also one of them, indeed God will turn your mess into a message!
The stone the builder rejected God is going to eventually turn it into the chief corner stone, who is Rehab? Rehab is a renowned harlot in Jericho
As a matter of fact, she is an international prostitute, she was one of the richest folks in Jericho who built her house on the wall of Jericho where people buy lands at a very high price, some bought their lands on the ground but she bought her own on the peripheral wall of Jericho and build her house there. Ruth is also another woman whom we are going to be dwelling on this day and I will like to use this opportunity to talk to our woman and let you know that this is your season.
I don’t know how satan has battered you, I don’t know how satan has made a mess of you, some of you are merely existing, but hear me, every joy that you have lost will be restored today!
Remember weeping may endure for a night, Joy comes in the morning, the Lord has seen your groaning, and your pain over the lives of your children, concerning your spouse’s career, etc, I pray for every woman reading this now, that the Lord will restore your Joy!
Every miracle you are trusting God for, shall manifest speedily in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
