2 KINGS 22
King Josiah was a righteous branch of an evil tree. Who could ever thought that a grand child of a wicked king like Manasseh could be righteous.
How much more a child whose grandfather and father were neck-deep in wickedness and idolatry! That is why God said in Ezekiel chapter 18 verse 4 “Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also is the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.”
The spirit of righteousness from King David, Josias’ ancestor got a hold on him!
God saw that he was grieved because of the sin of his people and he also asked for forgiveness of their sins.
God decided that He will not allow King Josiah to suffer the consequences of the sin of his ancestors. He will die peacefully at a good old age and be buried honourably.
God honour those who honour Him.
1 Samuel 2:30, “Them that honour me I will honour.”
Verse 14 highlighted how King Josiah enquired of the LORD through Prophetess Huldah. He has really imbibed the tradition of King David.
In Verse 7, the keeper of the doors also portrayed faithfulness. It was recorded that there was no reckoning of the money which they received from the people yet they were faithful to deliver it when needed.
