One of the beautiful things about Proverbs is that its truths are often very simple on the surface but become richer when you connect the verses together and place them against real life. After speaking about arguments, offences, wealth, disputes, and human relationships, Solomon points us back to the only truly secure refuge – GOD. Human words can hurt us, fail us, wealth can disappoint us, and relationships can become strained, but GOD remains a safe place.
So we can actually find a thread running through the words in Proverbs 18:
– The fool speaks.

– Words create consequences.
– Relationships can be broken or strengthened.
– Wealth offers limited security.
– GOD alone is the ultimate refuge.
Solomon repeats these threads across the book of Proverbs because human beings tend to struggle with the same issues generation after generation. The technology changes, the culture changes, but the heart of man changes very slowly.

It emphasizes that a life of character, patience and obedience to God yields ultimate protection, while foolishness, poor planning and unchecked anger lead to inevitable consequences and ruin.

In the Church and in the Market place, the world is searching for “Faithful men and women”
In addition, mentors are searching for FAITHFUL Mentees.

The SCRIPTURES also recorded the tragedies of GEHAZI & JUDAS who forfeited glorious destinies on the altar of greed and unfaithfulness.
CONCLUSION
Consistency Faithfulness and Discipline are attributes required to fulfil divine destiny.
Hence, Apostle Paul recommended that:
“And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to FAITHFUL MEN who will be able to teach others also.”

Thoughts on Proverbs chapter 21

The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, Like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes.

Good leadership is a channel of water controlled by God; he directs it to whatever ends he chooses.
As I ponder over this verse from today’s reading, the present state of our country comes to my mind.
Indeed, to good leaders are desperately needed to steer the ship of this nation is an understatement. But it will manifest, not through endless discussions, abusive language, trolling, vexation and outbursts via different forums or platforms such as the social media.
Momentarily those channels may seem beneficial as tools that allow our voices to be heard by the ruling authorities, but they lack the ultimate power needed to turn things positively in the direction we yearn for.
Through this verse, you and I are reminded of the Supreme Monarch, who is the ruler of the kings of the earth, and has the control over all things that are visible and those not seen (whether they be thrones, kingdoms, rulers and authorities in the unseen world) Colossians 1:16
By this, believers, who are His representatives on earth must see things in a different light from the world’s view. Looking beyond the obvious, and conscious of the truth that the heart of every earthy king/leader no matter how wicked is in God’s hand.
We cannot give up our trust in God’s capability to control them to whatever end He chooses.
So, the church in Nigeria has mourned and lamented enough. God is beckoning those that are called by His name to humble themselves and P-R-A-Y (not join the band of complainers)
There are examples from Scriptures of people whose experiences mirror the current travails of our country. Prophet Habbakuk lamented over the state of affairs of Israel in Habakkuk chapter one.
He got frustrated, but he didnt resign to fate. Rather, he set out to find answers as he mounted his rampart, seeking the vindication of the Holiness and Justice of God in a land ravaged by evil doings and acts of wickedness.
His whole prophecy is a conversation between a man and His God, the end of which resulted in the answers He desperately needed. This is what our posture as God’s sons and daughters should look like.
Members of Christ’s body are encouraged to end the fruitless lamentations and go up thither. God is waiting to answer when we climb up to the watchtower and stand at our guard posts individually and collectively.
Like He did for prophet Habbakuk, in the areas where we have got things twisted in our understanding of the times, He will correct us and set our hearts to align with His counsel. Then, our hearts can rejoice in hope like the prophet in Habakkuk 3:17-19 (MSG) saying,….
Though the cherry trees don’t blossom and the strawberries don’t ripen, Though the apples are worm-eaten and the wheat fields stunted, Though the sheep pens are sheepless and the cattle barns empty, I’m singing joyful praise to God. I’m turning cartwheels of joy to my Savior God. Counting on God’s Rule to prevail, I take heart and gain strength
May the days of mourning end with dancing as God turns around the captivity of this nation in Jesus name. Amen 🙏
PROVERBS 23.

Proverbs 23 contains practical wisdom for everyday living. It warns against greed, gluttony, drunkenness, and the pursuit of wealth while encouraging discipline, respect for parents, and a life rooted in the fear of God. The chapter reminds believers that true riches are found in wisdom, integrity, and a close relationship with God—not in material possessions or worldly pleasures.
A major emphasis is on guarding the heart because the choices we make today determine the future we experience tomorrow. God also assures those who fear Him that their hope is secure and will never be disappointed.
Key Lessons
1. Do not be controlled by the desire for wealth (vv. 4–5). Earthly riches are temporary, but treasures in God are eternal. Matthew 6:19-20
2. Exercise self-control (vv. 1–3, 20–21). Avoid overindulgence in food, drink, and other pleasures. (Proverbs 23vs 28 MSG)
3. Choose your companions wisely (vv. 6–8). Not everyone who appears generous has pure motives. (2Cor. 6:14 MSG)
4. Accept correction and discipline (vv. 12–14). Loving discipline produces wisdom and godly character

REFLECTION
Our world encourages us to chase money, pleasure, and success at any cost. Money worship is so prevalent globally, but Proverbs 23 teaches that these pursuits, when they replace God, leave people empty. God desires hearts that are disciplined, humble, and obedient and are rooted in Him.
My Thoughts
Is my heart fixed on God or on temporary riches?
Am I living with self-control?
Do my choices today reflect the fear of the Lord?
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for the wisdom found in Your Word. Help me to fear You above all else and to live with self-control and integrity. Keep my heart from greed, pride, and every sinful desire. Teach me to receive correction, honor those You have placed over me, and walk in purity. Let my hope remain firmly anchored in You, and may my life bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen
Thoughts On Proverbs 24

In this Chapter, Solomon tries to make us see that true success is built on wisdom, not shortcuts or envy. He begins by warning us against admiring the apparent prosperity of the wicked, reminding us that their end is destruction, while the righteous are established by godly wisdom.
Then in verses 13–14, Solomon compares wisdom to honey. Honey is sweet and nourishing, yet unlike honey, wisdom must first be sought and found. The pursuit of wisdom may involve discipline, correction, patience, and hardship, but once acquired, the reward is satisfying to the soul, just like the taste of honey and gives hope for the future.
In these 2 verses, Solomon compares honey to wisdom in a unique way. We can see that honey is immediately sweet, but wisdom becomes sweet through experience. Many people enjoy honey; few persevere long enough to taste the sweetness of wisdom.
Solomon also tries to define true righteousness: “A just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again” (v.16). The righteous are not those who never fail but those who refuse to remain defeated because they trust GOD, like Job
Finally, he uses the imagery of a neglected vineyard (vv.30–34) to warn that little careless acts of laziness eventually produce great loss.
In all, Solomon wants us to understand real wisdom, which is about diligence, perseverance, compassion, and steadfast trust in GOD.
Takeaway:
Wisdom is worth every sacrifice. Though its pursuit may be demanding, its reward is sweet, and it gives strength to rise after every fall.
