FOCUS: THE CALL FOR UNITY IN THE BODY OF CHRIST
Text: Genesis 1:1-11, John 17:9-21, psalms 133,
Unity means oneness or singleness of purpose. It means everyone is following the same course with the same motives and mutual expectations.
The devil knows that when believers get together and walk together, they will strike blows into his kingdom and scatter his agenda.(John 10:10).
He also knows that when there is unity in the body of Christ, God will definitely command his blessings upon his people; ending bitterness and wiping away tears.
He knows that believers prayers are speedily answered under unity, so he (the devil) is making efforts to disunite the church in order to stop the depopulation of his kingdom. He knows that any house divided against itself cannot stand.
The major strength of any group of people is their unity. Genesis 11:6 reveals the achievement of all imaginations is possible with unity.
In fact, many of the problems we are facing in our societies and countries today is as a result of disunity. When the people of God can not agree regarding the situation of the Nation and when the church becomes divided along political, tribal, sectional parts, it becomes a serious problem for the body of Christ. Hence, it is both important and urgent that we pray for unity in our churches and the body of Christ as a whole.
PRAYERS
Father, we magnify your Holy name for bringing us together as a church, all glory belongs to you Lord. We glorify you for your overwhelming grace upon the church, thank you Lord Jesus.
Thank You Father for making us a light to our Nation, and a shining light to all lives around us, be thou magnified in Jesus name.
Lord, we ask for Your mercy to prevail where we have failed to live in unity, please let your mercy speak for us in Jesus name.
Father, in all ways we have lost our unity through selfishness, please forgive us and restore us in Jesus name.
Please, help us to discover and overcome all matters hindering our unity in the church in Jesus Mighty Name.
Father, we receive Your Spirit and the right character in the body of Christ in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
Lord, we ask that the spirit of the end time shall not prevail in our churches in Jesus name.
Father, help us to understand as the body of Christ that we are one in You, and help us to live as one that we may please You in Jesus name.
Father, please take away our hearts of stone and replace with the hearts of flesh that is willing to obey You and to love the brethren in Jesus name.
You demon sponsored against the church to cause distractions in the hearts of men against one another, we bind you and cast you out in Jesus name.
We declare that the gates of hell shall not prevail against the Church in Jesus name.
As we unite in the body of Christ, there shall be mass conversion of souls into Christianity in Jesus name.
We declare our total freedom from jealousy, strife and anger, we decree we are working in love and peace, in Jesus’ mighty name.
Father, bind our hearts together in love, unity and bond of peace in Jesus name.
Father, help me to love others as myself, help me to love without bias and help me to be lovable in Jesus name.
